HBO Confirms They've Switched to Blu-Ray As Well

When Warner Bros. went Blu-Ray disc exclusive, it wasn't announced whether it's lower company levels would follow. Today, HBO confirmed it's following in Warner's footsteps and going Blu-Ray exclusive as well.

HBO Home Video president Henry McGee told the Hollywood Reporter today that the company will be "following the same policy as Warner Home Video" and will no longer release titles on HD DVD.

One more for team Blu-Ray, let's just end the game already.

Come on BBC! I want Monty Python episodes on Blu-ray!

The fact that Warner is waiting until May to stop making HD DVD is kind of useless. Once consumers realize that more and more support is being thrown behind Blu-ray why would anyone in their right mind want to purchase an HD DVD player?

Hopefully Best Buy and Circuit City reps are getting this news and telling customers to purchase Blu-ray players instead since the format will be (more or less) officially dead in less than 4 months.
