Feature: PLAYSTATION 3 2008 Preview


These yearly previews seem to be all the rage, so it looks like onAXIS is going to have to bust out it's games list and throw them at you. You really want to know what great PLAYSTATION 3 titles we are getting this year, well, this is the place to find out. This list will be updated upon release of every new title this year. This list is for games on Blu-Ray disc only. Credits to some of the descriptions go to IGN.



Title: The Agency

Once an Xbox 360 exclusive, now a PLAYSTATION 3 title with more features. Namco Bandai is bringing Eternal Sonata to the PLAYSTATION 3 with more features and more playable characters. Play as Chopin, as they look for some way to make use of Polka's great powers to help save her.

Bethesda Softworks' upcoming Action RPG, Fallout 3, is a revolutionary RPG of it's kind. The unique character customization starts as a baby, and determines the way you look when your older. The title takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States, starting off in a fallout shelter. When you find out your father leaves the shelter, you leave in search for him. The game uses both the first person and third person perspective.

Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIII is the company's next most anticipated title. Though details on the plot are slim, we know that the main character is a girl named Lightning. Other than that, if it's Final Fantasy, and it's from Square, then it's a must-buy.

LucasArts' Fracture has seen a big change in it's recent showing at CES 2008. It actually looks worthy of making this list now. The game takes place in the year 2161, where ecological and seismological disasters have radically altered the planet's landscape, and a clash in ideologies places society on the threshold of war. A third person action game that you should surely look into.

Sierra's upcoming Prototype is a new game of it's kind. You play as Alex Mercer, who was infected with a virus that allows him to mutate his arms, create earth quakes by punching the ground, learn skills by simply killing someone who knows them, and more. In the game, he is searching for the person that did this to him. Will he find him? You'll find out.

Sony's inFAMOUS was revealed at E3 2007 and appears to look like a rival to Microsoft's Crackdown. Little is known about this title, but developers Sucker Punch say that they plan to implement an online component into the game. The title is an open-world game, where you choose to be good or bad, and super powers are present.

When Sony's KILLZONE 2 was first shown at E3 2005, no one could believe the footage they showed was in-game, but they proved them wrong at E3 2007. The game takes place two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta. With unbelievable graphics, full single player game, and online play, this is going to be one hell of a shooter.

Square Enix is at it again with more RPGs. Their upcoming title, The Last Remnant sure does show what they've become. In this game, players will feel the true tension of a soldier on the battlefield. As many as seventy units will duke it out at once in fierce yet beautiful battles.

The once Xbox 360 exclusive is making it's way to PLAYSTATION 3. Capcom's Lost Planet: Extreme Condition comes to the PLAYSTATION 3 with all the extra downloadable content and characters featured as priced downloads for the PC and Xbox 360 versions. The game will launch at a budget price as well, $40.

The hit TV show, Lost, is making it's way onto consoles from developers Ubisoft. The game features puzzle solving, and overcoming many challenges to get off the island.

Level 5 is at it again with another great RPG. In White Knight Chronicles, you take control of a boy who comes into the possession of an ancient artifact. The artifact gives him the ability to transform into the White Knight of the title, a 7-meter warrior from a time when such creatures nearly destroyed all of civilization. Surely a great title for RPG fans.

On the DBZ Burst Limit you said "every character featured in a DBZ game so far" where did you learn that?
