Gran Turismo 5 Still About a Year Away

On a new post about the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue mixtape, a commenter was wondering whether or not he should get the game depending on how long Gran Turismo 5 will take to come out. Chris Hinojosa-Miranda of SCEA responded.

"You could borrow it from someone, but that’s like licking the bowl after someone’s finished the ice cream…

Also, to further clarify, GT5 is still about a year away. You should just decide now to buy it, enjoy it, go online and race against anyone and everyone, rank number one worldwide, get the girl (or guy) and become the most popular kid in town. The end."

There you have it, we still got a year, so all you out there still undecided, you might as well pick up Prologue to tide you over.

A year!!! Are you serious!?!?!

6 months okay, but a friggin' year!!! Thank goodness the PS3 will have a lot of quality titles to hold us over but a year seems a bit stupid.

If they manage to make the graphics better and maybe add in vehicle damage then I can see how a year will take a long time. Otherwise, with the prologue looking as good as it does I can't see why another 12 months is necessary when the only thing that seems to be missing is more tracks.

Let's not forget that someone will take that year to trump them on the Gran Turismo TV idea. They better go into hiding for that 12 months and not reveal anything else about the game.

How long do you think it takes to create 300, 400+ cars to the level seen in GT5:P?

How much longer do you think it takes to create a damage model for some or all of those cars?

How long do you think it takes to finish the rest of the tracks, integrate a day/night cycle into them and weather?

How long do you think it takes to produce a polished menu system for the huge amount of content in a GT game?

AGES.

If you care about quality, you'll be patient. In the meantime I'm sure there will be a mixture of free updates and paid content similar to Warhawk.
