Buzz! Quiz TV Boxart Revealed

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has revealed the official packshot for their upcoming Buzz! Quiz TV. Amazon says this should be releasing in Europe sometime in June 2008. You can expect a US release to follow shortly after that. The new PlayStation 3 title is set to come with wireless buzzers.

Buzz! Quiz TV Debut Trailer

The semi-official Three Speech has today posted the debut trailer for Sony Computer Entertainment's upcoming Buzz! Quiz TV for the PlayStation 3. I own Buzz! The Mega Quiz, and I must say, when you have people around such as family, and you need something to do, Buzz will keep you occupied. This PlayStation 3 version is looking super sharp, and I think I just might pick a copy up. Now, lets switch the talking over to Buzz, he will tell you what it is all about. Enjoy!

Buzz! Quiz TV Will Not Support Online Voice Chat

In a new JoyStiq hands on with the upcoming PlayStation 3 quiz game, Buzz! Quiz TV, they discuss some of the new features in the PlayStation 3 game.

Most of the features, we already know such as creating your own quiz and downloading others' quizzes online (something like LittleBigPlanet). One thing they do say is that you can play Buzz! Quiz TV online with your friends, which is great. It does not support voice chat, however.

Buzz! Quiz TV being the social game it is should include voice chat, shouldn't it?

Buzz! Hitting the PLAYSTATION 3 and PSP This Spring

Sony Computer Enertainment said today that they are hoping to release Buzz! Quiz TV on the PLAYSTATION 3 around the same time as the newly announced Buzz! for PSP.

Relentless Software is developing both these new Buzz! games. The PSP version comes with some cool multiplayer modes and six new round types with questions covering assorted subjects.

Buzz! You Have a Lawsuit Sony

Seems that Sony Computer Entertainment's Buzz! family trivia series games have gotten them a lawsuit.

Buzztime Entertainment, a Carlsbad, California company filed a lawsuit against Sony due to violation of some of their trademarks.

Buzztime doesn't hold a trademark for the word "buzz" in gaming, but it does hold trademarks for "entertainment in the nature of interactive games played via interactive television and an interactive global computer network," and "equipment for playing a plug and play game, namely, video game machines for use with televisions, video game interactive remote control units, video game cartridges, and interactive video game programs." Buzztime Entertainment is accusing Sony of "malicious, fraudulent, knowing, willful, and deliberate" violation of their trademarks, as they claim that Sony is trying to market their games under the association of the original Buzztime published games.

Buzztime is pleading the court for actual damages, punitive damages, legal fees, and an order to block SCEE's pending trademarks registration from the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Its ashame what some people will do to get their hands on a bit of green.

Buzz! PS3 Will Have Plenty of Questions & Downloadables

IGN interviewed Buzz! creator David Amor on the new PS3 iteration of the franchise and PS3Fanboy outlined the entertaining bits below:

• Relentless Software isn't exactly a technology company, so programming for the PS3 hasn't been as big an obstacle as other devs. They're focused more on the game itself, which they want to make as social as possible. Keep the PS3 in the big family den, you know?
• The game will be a Blu-ray release, not downloadable. However, like with Singstar, there will be a ton of downloadable content for quiz-enthusiasts. The plan is to have a hefty amount of stuff available from day one of the game's launch.
• There are currently about 5,000 questions on the disc itself in a multitude of categories. Interestingly, these aren't created solely by Relentless Software. A very large portion of the questions are outsourced to a company called Sleepy Dog, then fact-checked for accuracy. Sony has even approached National Geographic for making their own category of questions.
• In fact, there could be a lot of companies in the future giving categories for download. Heck, we will probably be able to up our own categories of questions for people to check out, give ratings as to their value, etc. This service will be in the game and will be free, whereas company question packs would get upped on the PS Store for an acceptable price.
  
• Online matches sound fun -- person vs. person, team vs. team, et cetera. Nothing ground breaking, but feeling like you're on a quiz show is good enough.

There is much more discussed, even details about creating your own question packs, playable characters, and keeping track of the stuff people could potentially upload (no copyrighted images, for now). The controller for the PS3 Buzz! is the same as the PS2 version, so you quiz experts won't have to adjust to a new steering wheel, so to speak. The game is due out in Spring of 2008.

GC 2007: Buzz! Quiz TV Announced

Sony has announced their next PlayStation Network user. And it's called Buzz! Quiz TV. It will be integrated with the PlayStation Network to enhance the use of the community. Heres how EuroGamer describes it:

So, you'll be able to play people from all over the world rather than your slightly-too-clever flatmate, on your own, or in teams - just like on Family Fortunes.

The Network will also open up limitless content for you to download and expand your game with. We're told the closest comparison is to imagine the previous PS2 suite of games all rolled in to one gigantic offering, and you'll be able to break it up into themed-chunks or any way you like.

And when you get the point you feel you are the best and most knowledgeable person around, then you can write, upload, and share your own content. Yours and everyone else's questions will be available on community site MyBuzz, which will link directly to the game and by playable in the Buzz Studio area. You can do it all on your PC, too, before transferring it through your console.

What it all means is that the questions will never dry up, essentially meaning developer Relentless will never have to make another Buzz game to house new questions. Lazy! Oops, they'll get me. Better talk about next-generation graphics, lovely audio, new games, modes, better jokes from Buzz, high-definition Rose. And a new style wireless buzzer? No news just yet.

Seems like it's going to be a nice game for the PlayStation Network.
