Metal Gear Solid 3: Big Boss Sculpture

A crafty member named SteroJet on the GameTrailers forums made a 20th anniversary edition sculpture of Big Boss from the Metal Gear Series. The sculpture he made is based off the cover from Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. You can view more images at the link. Enjoy!

Mafia 2: Five New Screenshots

Thanks to Ene3, we have some new screenshots of 2K Czech's upcoming Mafia II. The game has been in hiding for quite some time, but we know now that news will soon arrive on this great looking title. Enjoy!

Rocketmen: Axis of Evil: Demo Impressions

Tonight I gave the demo a tryout for Capcom's newly released downloadable title, Rocketmen: Axis of Evil. First thing thrown at you is the character customization. The customization isn't much, it may just be the demo though.

As you enter the game, you pick up the first gun. The shooting style is the same style you'd see in Blast Factor, Super Stardust HD, etc. That means you point the right analog stick to where you want to shoot, and thats where it shoots.

The demo level I played was full of green martians in red clothing. The whole level was a pick up, run slowly, and shoot as they hit you a million times. When I got to the end of the level, they didn't let me fight the "boss martian". If you ask me, the game needs a lot of work. It's one of those games that just feels wrong when you pick it up, you know?

Burnout Paradise DLC Preview #1

The Real Heavenly Sword: Made Out of Wood

A very crafty student crafted this sword from Ninja Theory's Heavenly Sword. This is the sword that Nariko holds.

"Instead of making some stupid cabinet or a DVD shelf like the rest of the class, I decided to make something a little more original...Ironical, I was the first one to get cut by my sword. I let a kid hold it and he got a little power hungry, started swinging it around and cut my in the arm. For a wooden sword, it sure cuts well."
Lets hope those cuts heal up. Great sword. Now, you just need to make an eBay account.

Metal Gear Solid 4 Updates: MGO Beta on Store, More

The latest Kojima Productions report (#82) tells of some brief new information on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots & Metal Gear Online.

- The boxart shown in Japanese magazines is not the final boxart for Japan or any other world region. They are still working on it.

- A Metal Gear Online Beta will be available as a PlayStation Store download for North America & Europe.

- For the first time in Metal Gear Solid history, the word "F8ck" will be used.

- The Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD will use the "Dissolve" artwork.

- The "Dissolve" image was created by a company called "Petrol" based in California and tweaked by Kojima Productions.

- Payton wants you to come up with a Metal Gear name for yourself for all future questions to their mailbox or it probably won't get answered.

- The violence level hasn't been toned down in this game. It was only for the trailers.

US April 2008 PTOM Grand Theft Auto IV Preview Details

The latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine features a preview of Grand Theft Auto IV just as all the other magazines you'll see this April 2008. Lets get straight to the breakdown.

  • Entering an unlocked borough will instantly put the player on a 5-star wanted level and the fiction behind this is, Niko doesn't have a naturalization papers and is considered as a terrorist threat.
  • Pedestrians seemingly have thousands of lines of dialogue.
  • When asked about how the game begins, VP of development Jeronimo Barrera says, "It sets up your position as an immigrant."
  • The cast of characters is guesstimated at being in the hundreds by Barrera.
  • Barrera states "We want this game to last for years. I'm sure we'll do another GTA some time in the future, but this one is built to last." They also mention that the PS3 will most likely have their own form of DLC as well.
  • Any problems with the PS3 version have been addressed and fixed. Sony tech. was there to help.
  • The euphoria engine goes as far as Niko actually stepping up onto a curb and onto a dead body (think Captain Morgan's pose).
  • Shots can penetrate some walls.
  • Knife: "one slash across the face was enough to drop a bad guy".
  • Firetrucks are confirmed. In the preview they state that they set a car on fire, called 911 for a firetruck, and when the firetruck arrived they stole it and drove down the street shooting the water cannon.
Wait, so the PlayStation 3 will get their own form of DLC as well? Am I hearing this right? If it's true, it is great for PlayStation 3 owners. I really can't wait to test this game out, the euphoria engine is going to be great in this game.

SouthPeak's Edge of Twilight Information

SouthPeak Interactive has announced today that Fuzzyeyes Studio's Edge of Twilight will be available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC sometime in 2009. The game is under development using the Unreal Engine 3.

“We are very excited to help bring Fuzzyeye’s creative vision to life. The team spent a lot of time developing a comprehensive story to give the universe a history and purpose, which can change based on the players interaction within the world.” said Melanie Mroz, CEO of SouthPeak.

In Edge of Twilight, the player is placed in a steampunk world to play as Lex, an outcast bounty hunter who finds himself caught between clashes of two polar opposite civilizations. The game features fast-paced action and promises to be an immersive experience.

“It is energizing to see our unique vision take shape. We are bringing some unusual ideas to the table and so far we couldn’t be happier with the results,” said Wei-Yao Lu, CEO of Fuzzyeyes. “Gamers should look forward to 2009!”

Lost Planet Colonies Announcement Next Week

According to CVG, due to a list of leaked Xbox 360 achievements, Capcom will be announcing it's upcoming Lost Planet Colonies next week. We have no idea what it's about, but expect snow. Expect for the PlayStation 3 version to play like crap compared to the Xbox 360 version if they have the same team working on it who worked on Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for PlayStation 3.

Insomniac President: Resistance for PSP Is "Possible"

In a new interview with Insomniac Games boss Ted Price, he talks about the possibility of Resistance coming to PSP. Their other titles such as Ratchet & Clank, have already made their way to the PSP, and he was asked if Resistance would follow.

"Sure. I think that's possible... I think Killzone demonstrated that it doesn't have to be a first-person shooter. I think Killzone: Liberation was a fantastic game, but a very different game from the original. Anything is possible."
Personally, I thought KILLZONE: Liberation was fantastic, and I'd love to see a Resistance version, or perhaps even a third-person shooter.
