onAXIS: New Site Name! I Need Your Help!

Okay guys & gals, I'm having a serious issue here with the site. We are moving soon, like I've stated so many times to a new site that will be multiplatform but still under my ownership.

For all the PLAYSTATION 3 only lovers, don't worry, I'm seperating the site down into sections so you can stick with the news you only want.

Anyway, I've been struggling lately thinking of names for this new site. It's very hard to think of something completely original, heres what I thought of so far:

New Site Names
  • P3 GAMER
  • DETAKU
Those are basically it, and to tell the truth, they only sound descent. I want something great, incredible, and has a little ring to it. It's up to you, help me out guys, drop me a comment or an e-mail (admin@onaxisonline.com).

onAXIS Poll Results: Which Title Are You Getting This/Next Month?

Our polls have closed down and we've managed to get a high 743 votes. But nobody cares about that, lets get down to buisness. Which game took home the prize of most wanted? Lets give out the medals:
1. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Infinity Ward - 205 Votes (27%) - Gold Medal
2. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Naughty Dog - 169 Votes (22%) - Silver Medal
3. Assassin's Creed - Ubisoft Montreal - 118 Votes (15%) - Bronze Medal
Seems that the most wanted game is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, coming out on November 5 at retailers. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune takes the second most wanted by PLAYSTATION 3 gamers, releasing the 19th of this month. And finally, Assassin's Creed takes the third most wanted releasing the 13th of this month.

Rock Band Is Gold

Rock Band, the Guitar Hero-like title developed by Harmoix, has gone gold today.

The title comes packed with a guitar, drum kit, and a wired microphone. Individual instruments will not be available for purchase at launch, however Harmonix states that the Rock Band PLAYSTATION 3 guitar can be used with the PS2 edition.

Alex Rigopolous, CEO of Harmonix, states that:
“Rock Band is a true symbol of Harmonix’s vision, dedication, and passion for music and after two years of development, we are thrilled that Rock Band is finally ready to get in the hands of rock fans everywhere.”
He continued:
“We have a small army filling our warehouses with final product. Now, our focus is putting together an amazing selection of downloadable music content for players so players can continue to further customize their Rock Band experience post launch.”
EA CEO John Riccitiello said that:
“We won’t be able to put up enough inventory to meet the demand of this fiscal or calendar year.”
Of course your local gaming goods store will have to copy in, but your going to most likely have a pre-order if you want to get a copy of the title.

Rock Band comes with 58 tracks out of the case and new songs are to be released weekly which you can get from the PLAYSTATION Store.

Son Hires Hitman To Kill Parents After PS3 Is Tooken Away

Due to poor grades in school, a young boy named Cory Ryder was banned from his television and his PLAYSTATION console until he received better grades. In anger and hate, he plotted to murder his parents.

Due to some threats he made to his parents, they decided to organize a sting operation where a police officer would play the role of a hitman. Naturally, Cory found his way to that very hitman and offered his dad's truck as payment, allegedly saying "two bullets is all it takes". He was subsequently arrested.

If your here, you obviously love PLAYSTATION, but who would go that low as to try and kill their parents? Cory Ryder is one crazy guy if you want to go ahead and ask me. Thats just loco.

Call of Duty 4's Hood Part 2

This is a follow up of this post here.

In this Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare feature, Infinity Ward takes us through the different stages of rendering a level.

PS.Blog: Creating the Guncon 3

PS.Blog writes: Hello, everyone, this is Takashi Satsukawa, the director of Time Crisis 4.

Today, I would like to discuss our development process in creating Time Crisis 4 and the Guncon 3 controller. Four years have passed since I first came up with the framework of Time Crisis 4. In the autumn of 2003, after the completion of the PS2 version of Time Crisis 3, our development team started to examine what our next big step for the series should be. After kicking around some ideas, we decided to work on a new concept in which the player has full control over their on-screen actions, moving independently through the stage and shooting at enemies with an entirely new Guncon.

In most traditional arcade shooting games such as the previous installments of Time Crisis, players don’t have full control over their movement. Instead, the camera movements are directed precisely by the developer, while enemies show up quickly on the screen. This allows the player to focus on one specific action – shooting. As the basic premise for this type of game has broad appeal and is instantly engaging, we’ll continue to make these games in the future, but wanted to investigate a new path for Time Crisis 4.

White Knight Story: New Scan & Images

Sony Computer Entertainment has revealed some new images of White Knight Story for the PLAYSTATION 3, developed by Level 5.

This is Level 5's first PLAYSTATION 3 title. In this fantasy RPG, you take control of a boy who comes into the possession of an ancient artifact. The artifact gives him the ability to transform into the White Knight of the title, a 7-meter warrior from a time when such creatures nearly destroyed all of civilization.

Test Drive Coming to PS3, Afrika "Non-Violent"

In Surfer Girl's latest post, she reveals some PLAYSTATION 3 related insider facts:
1) Eden Games is currently working on a new Test Drive title for a release late next year/early 2009 on PS3/360/PC, the game will use the open-world gameplay and online features seen in last year's Test Drive Unlimited.
2) Afrika is a "nonviolent game" with "positive social themes." Something certain to appease those who have always wanted to spell doom to fictional poachers without violence.
3) Three Wario games are in development.
4) Itadaki Street DS will see a release in the states sometime next year.
So we get a Test Drive and a nature animal game. I like the Test Drive, not the animals.

Call of Duty 4: Solo Campaign Is 5 Hours Long

Yahoo! France has reviewed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare from Infinity Ward a very good score of 17/20. One thing pointed out though is:
"Yet, despite all his qualities, including technical, Call Of Duty 4 has some default . The first of, its life: 5 hours! That, as it is said, quick and painful as they say. 5 hours is about the time it takes to complete the game in medium difficulty."
I'm just in it for the multiplayer is what I always say.

Epic Talks Multiplayer in Unreal Tournament III

Unreal Tournament III may be bringing a solo campaign with it when it releases, but of course it's bringing the big bombs known as multiplayer. Epic's Unreal Tournament series are known for some of the best multiplayer amongst games.

James Brown, lead level designer of Unreal Tournament III at Epic Games, talked with Local Tech Wire about what fans can expect from the new multiplayer game.

Can you talk about your goals with the multiplayer in Unreal Tournament 3?

Many FPS (first person shooter) games today are slower tactical shooters, and that just isn’t Unreal. We are aiming for fast-paced combat with crazy fun weapons and new and interesting vehicle designs. Unreal Tournament is a game that you can play competitively, or just hop online and have fun with friends.

Bethesda Talks Elder Scrolls MMO

Ever since ElderScrollsOnline.com was registered by Bethesda Software, much speculation arose about an Elder Scrolls MMORPG.

SPOnG caught up briefly with Bethesda’s Pete Hines late last week who told us the following about the recent $300 million cash injection into Bethesda’s new MMO group:

“This investment allows Bethesda to continue to grow and pursue our previously announced initiatives. That includes work now going on with our new MMO group (ZeniMax Online Studios), as well as the titles that we are working on.”
He added:
“I don't think that this funding changes our focus in terms of what we are about and are trying to accomplish. The additional resources will allow us to expand our publishing efforts-both our own titles and those of other studios-and to pursue development of more titles, working with internal and external development teams.”
When we find out more about this mystery MMO, we will keep you informed.

South Park: New Episode to Feature Guitar Hero

South Park always does video game related episodes. Whether its the Wii or the World of Warcraft episode, they are always funny.

Titled "Guitar Queer-o," this new episode will center on Guitar Hero. According to the episode synopsis, "Stan and Kyle are hooked on Guitar Hero. But Stan's superior skills on the video game damage his friendship with Kyle."

Looks like Stan's Dad takes a liking to the game as well. Stick to your TV for the premiere of the episode.
