US PlayStation Store Update for August 16, 2007

Well, it's here, it's here very late, but it's still here. And might I say, it's actually a good update. Normally we get crappy half-assed updates. But today is a good day. Now give us two to three demos every week and we will be fine. Heres the update:

  • Dirt Demo (free)
  • NCAA Football 08 demo (free)
  • Folklore "A tale of two strangers" trailer (free)
  • TimeShift trailer (free)
  • Heavenly Sword making-of video episode 2 (free)
  • Heavenly Sword anime episode 2 (free)
  • Bros Solomon movie trailer (free)
  • Wall E movie trailer (free)
  • Lives of Others movie trailer (free)
Good job Sony, good job. Like I said, keep every week like this and you'll be hearing less complaining. Now get up with those PSone games and original titles for the PSN. But give Europe the same stuff we do, because it is not fair for them.

Ratchet & Clank Future US Release Date Revealed

Insomniac announce the release date of Ratchet & ClankFuture: Tools of Destruction on the Full Moon Show podcast. They talk to AnimationDirector Chris Nicholls, discuss the Global Gaming League Resistance: Fall of Man tournament finals in NYC and talk to players at the event and more.

Anyway they mention the release date at the end...it is coming to the US on October 23, 2007.

Calling All Cars Crashing onto PSP

According to the latest issue of PSP - The Official Guidebook, the hit game on the PlayStation Network, Calling All Cars! is coming to the PSP. No word is out on how Sony will release the game, whether it's a PS3 owner only thing or a retail game, or even for the upcoming PSP Store.

Anyway, a retail with a lot of extra levels would be pretty cool, but I can't see Jaffe going into that right now as he's got much more to do. I think letting it be compatable with the PS3 version would be nice, just like the PSone games are.

Rumor: Metal Gear Online Already In Beta? [Update]

Gamefront.de appears to think so. According to this small paragraph:

"Metal Gear on-line down load immediately possible

16.08.07 - Konami published the beta version of on-line play Metal Gear on-line one in Japan, which can be downloaded by the beta testers immediately.

This concerns a closed beta test, which runs up to 03.09.07.

I signed up for the beta and did not get an e-mail about it so I'm not sure of it.

It has been confirmed that Metal Gear Online is in it's Beta and sadly, checking my Japanese Store last night has told me I did not get in. Heres the image of it on the XMB:

EU PlayStation Store Update for August 16, 2007

Well, ThreeSpeech just posted the update, another sad one as usual:

  • Armored Core 4 - Demo
  • Heavenly Sword - Next installment of the ‘making of’ and ‘animation’ videos.
I don't know what to say, I'm not in Europe and am hoping for a better US update, but seriously Sony, get your head in the game.

Call of Duty 4: PlayStation 3 vs. Xbox 360 Comparisons

The boys over at COD4Forums decided to do a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 comparison of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, since the latest statement saying the two games will be identicle. Infinity Ward has this to say:

"The version of the level shown in the PS3 shot has been through one or two more detail passes than the one shown in the 360 shot. That said, all levels (single player and multi) use identical geometry and textures across all platforms. If nothing else, the shots show an interesting look at the evolution of a level."
Time can only tell what it will look like in the end of the game. If it does end up looking exactly alike, then I'm glad, because I will hear no complaints from owners of either consoles. For the image comparison, visit the link below.
