Well, for those gore fans, we have a nice release for you this week. SEGA's Condemned 2: Bloodshot is releasing in the US this week, along with Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (finally). Lets take a look at the release list.

PES 2008: PLAYSTATION 3 Receives Another Patch

Konami Digital Entertainment has released another update for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 on the PLAYSTATION 3.

They state that the patch will solve compatibility issues when it is played on an SDTV as well as the slight stuttering effect that occurs when the game is played on a non-HD source.

The patch is now available for download PES 2008 owners. Might as well go and get it.

Konami Details the Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Patch

Yesterday afternoon, Konami Digital Entertainment released game updates to help fix issues with the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

Today, Konami specified the update. The download addresses the online lag and the slowdown that affects the game in both online and offline modes.

The PLAYSTATION 3 update also fixes problems associated with downloading the game to the console’s hard drive.

Although, according to some users yesterday, the update was not so successful.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Patch Not So Successful

Today, the Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 patch was released for the PLAYSTATION 3 version of the game.

However, despite the excitement and anticipation surrounding the updates it appears they are only mildly successful. Console owners are reporting that while the patches do improve matters online somewhat, there is still warping, teleporting and lag, despite the updates.

Hopefully, Konami will patch the patch.

PLAYSTATION 3 Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Patch Released

Konami has finally released the much anticipated patch for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

Players of the title have reported that upon starting the game this afternoon, a patch is automatically downloaded, which will hopefully solve the online lag problems and maybe even the framerate issues in the single player game.

There is yet no word on what this patch fixes, but hopefully it's the problems stated above.

Konami Not Set-Up for Multi-Platform

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is a great game, although it does have some major issues on the PLAYSTATION 3 due to bad porting from the Xbox 360 version.

They are starting to rethink their actions from here on. Pro Evolution boss, Seabass Takatsuka admitted they're a little behind the times:

As a developer, we've worked the same way since the days of the SNES. We're simply not set up for multi-platform development.

Seabass promised that Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 will bring major improvements, hopefully making them equal for both consoles.

Famitsu Scores Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Straight 9's

Winning Eleven 2008 (Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 in EU & US) is coming out this December in Japan, and Famitsu reviewed it and they were obviously amazed. They gave both the PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game 9,9, and 9. Did Konami fix the problems that were originally occuring in the PLAYSTATION 3 version?

I guess a United States release will tell.

Winning Eleven 2008 Demo On Japan PLAYSTATION Store

The Winning Eleven 2008 (Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 in US) demo has just went live on the Japanese PLAYSTATION Store. The demo is slightly smaller in size being 1150mb where the European demo is 1161mb.

Some members on the GT Forums are reporting that there is no framerate problems in this demo as well.

PES 2008 for PS3 Locks Online to Console

Tired of hearing bad news about PLAYSTATION 3 versions of multiplatform games, then join the club. In the GameSpot UK review of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, they write:

"It's also worth noting the online registration process, which locks your copy of the game to your Konami account for online play. This means that if you ever want to sell your copy of the game, the next person will be unable to play online unless he or she has your registration details."

So that basically locks out buying a used version of the game.

PES 2008: GameSpot Rates 6 for PS3

The PLAYSTATION 3 version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 was rated a 6 out of 10 on GameSpot. They claim the game:

• Adds no new features to last year's game
• Laggy, unplayable online code
• Slowdown when running in hi-def
• Poor presentation in every respect
• Graphically and aurally under par.

The Xbox 360 version received a 7 out of 10. Konami has heard and are reacting to the graphical, lag, and framerate problems. They will be releasing a patch soon to fix these problems.

PES 2008: Konami Fighting Lag & Framerate Issues

Konami is suffering criticism from gamers who say the PS3 version of the game suffers from frame rate issues and slowdown.

Earlier today Konami apologised for the quality of online play with an online notification displayed when gamers enter the PES 2008 lobby. It revealed that the publisher has uncovered "issues which can affect the online gameplay quality of PES 2008" and is working "full strength to find a solution as quickly as possible".

Pro-G gave Konami's UK office a call posing as a customer to ask what the publisher would be doing to combat the problems. They were told that a patch was being worked on that would not only attempt to improve offline play but also online play. However, Konami does not have a timeframe on when that patch will be released.

It remains unclear how PES fans who are not connected to the Internet will be able to improve the quality of their game experience, however.

They are also working on a fix for the online lag.

PES 2008 Goals Can Bounce Your Balls

A pretty funny video of a tiny glitch that occurred in the PLAYSTATION 3 version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. It seems someone went for a free kick and the glitch kicked in. Take a look for yourself. Oh, one thing to note is that GamesRadar writes:

"It's likely that the mirthsome moment comes from the next-gen demo, like the one on PlayStation Network"

Last time I checked, it wasn't on there.

Pro Evolution PLAYSTATION 3 Limited by Time Constraints

Pro Evolution Soccer creator Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka has told CVG that so far he's only explored the tip of the iceberg regards the possibilities for the series on PS3.

"Well I'm satisfied in that in the time frame we had, we were able to finish the code and release it on time, but that's only really within that time frame", he told us in a recent interview when talking about the debut of PES on PS3 with the 2008 edition.

"When I look at the capacity of what the PS3 can do, I feel very strongly that there's loads of things that I wanted to do, but I couldn't do them in this version."

Speaking generally about the future of Pro Evo, Seabass explained he wants to change the mentality of the development team to be renewed and changed to focus on all next-gen platforms.

"We've already started operations on this", he said.

Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka is a living soccer legend. The mastermind behind the exceptional Pro Evolution Soccer series has been creating our favourite game of footy for years now, but 2008 signals a milestone for the long-running soccer series, with PS3 and Wii versions of the game now completing a full next gen line-up. CVG was able to have a sit-down with him, they started:

This is the first Pro Evolution Soccer on PS3 - are you pleased with what you've achieved and how do you see the series evolving on PS3?

Seabass: Well I'm satisfied in that in the time frame we had, we were able to finish the code and release it on time, but that's only really within that time frame. When I look at the capacity of what the PS3 can do, I feel very strongly that there's loads of things that I wanted to do, but I couldn't do them in this version.

As to the future, well it's not just about PS3 actually, but it's more about the mentality of the development team and I want to change the mentality of the team to be renewed and changed to focus on all next-gen platforms. We've already started operations on this.
