Turok Multiplayer Maps Are Coming Soon

Propaganda today announced that it will be releasing new multiplayer maps for Turok tomorrow, along with a new cooperative map. The maps should go live on the PlayStation Network tomorrow during the Thursday update for around $5.00.

TouchStone, Turok Has Already Released

Apparently, TouchStone doesn't know that it's own game, Turok, has already been released. They even have a counter running on their official site till the game's release which still has about a day and a half left.

Stores like GameStop and Best Buy have the game's release listed as January 31, 2008, which was three days ago. I was already playing Turok a day ago with my friend who happened to pick up the game.

Turok Pre-Orders Come With Dino-Fang

GameCrazy seems to be giving away a special gift for Turok pre-orders. A local buyer received this fang (to the left) while pre-ordering the game there.

Turok's Teammate Killing Feature Removed

Propaganda Games, developers of the upcoming Turok, have announced that a patch will be disseminated that will change the "Grab Bag Achievement". This achievement required payers to kill "at least 1 creature, 1 enemy, 1 teammate, and yourself" in a single online match and was hotly protested when it was announced. The resulting patch would remove the requirement of killing a teammate, leaving you only needing to kill "at least 1 creature, 1 enemy and yourself."

Although the PLAYSTATION 3 doesn't have achievements, but the PLAYSTATION 3 version of Turok features a similar rewards system that will be fixed by a patch, along with adding rumble support.

The fix should be available for download the day the game is released. They changed this because many players were upset of having to kill a teammate. Well, now you don't.

Turok: Really This Bad on the PLAYSTATION 3?

In an interview, I recall the developers of Turok saying they are going to make both versions of the game nearly identical. This new comparison from the Turok demo on both consoles by a GT Forums member shows otherwise.

To the left is the Xbox 360 version of the game, while on the right is the PLAYSTATION 3 version. See the difference? It's not quite hard to spot, considering the 360 version displays numerous amounts of textures and patterns, while the PLAYSTATION 3 version looks like a semi-enhanced PS2 game.

We're contacting Propaganda to see what they have on this.

Turok Demo Hitting EU PLAYSTATION Network on February 7, 2008

While the Xbox Live Marketplace received their Turok demo on Tuesday, seems Propaganda is making owners of the EU PLAYSTATION 3 wait.

A lot of users were expecting a Turok demo to arrive today, as was I, but it seems that not the case. Disney Interactive confirmed today that the PLAYSTATION 3 demo is coming on February 7, 2008.

My advice for the developers: get them both out at once.

A new Turok gameplay video has surfaced on GameTrailers. In this new video, you venture through the Dino-Valley. Turok is from TouchStone & Propaganda Games and is set to be released February 2008.

Turok: Demo, PS3/360 Comparisons, Online Co-Op

Thanks to a new post on NeoGAF, we have some new information on a demo of Turok and also some of the problems they had working with the PLAYSTATION 3.

They state it's tough working with a new console, but it's like that for every console they are first starting with, not just the PLAYSTATION 3. They have extremely talented coders at Propaganda who are going to give the owners the best PLAYSTATION 3 game possible. They state "So to make a long story short, the PS3 game rocks as hard as the 360 version." Thats good to hear.

Regarding a demo, they said one is coming to the 360 very soon with a PLAYSTATION 3 demo as well.

They are supporting online co-op as well! They have 3 distinct maps telling aspects of the SP campaign from a different perspective. The AI is suitably tougher, as you'd expect from a mode which supports 4 players working together.

Turok: Attack the Base Gameplay Video

IGN has a new video of TouchStone and Propaganda's upcoming classic next-gen remake, Turok, for the PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The new video shows the main character attacking someone's base. Thats really all there is to describe. Enjoy your gun fight.

Turok: PS3 Version Indistinguishable from Xbox 360 Version

GameSpot finally got some time alone with the PLAYSTATION 3 version of Propaganda's upcoming dino revival, Turok.

In the site's preview, GameSpot editor Justin Calvert writes "We should also mention that this was our first opportunity to see Turok running on the PlayStation 3, and we're pleased to report that it's practically indistinguishable from the Xbox 360 version."

It's good to see the gap of multiplatform games keep getting closer and closer. Soon enough, (maybe not with EA Games), we will see games looking exactly the same on each platform.

Turok: PLAYSTATION 3 & Xbox 360 Versions Are Identical

According to a Gameplayer preview of Propaganda Games' upcoming dino-event of 2008 title, Turok, both versions of the title look exactly the same. They write:

"So here it is: the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game play identically. Yes, you read that right, Propaganda Games has the Unreal Engine 3 working on the PS3 and not only does it look quite stunning, swapping Gears of War’s desolate Sera for a tropical paradise terrorized by geckos that can bite your head off, but it glides along as smoothly as a silk scarf off a baby’s bum. At multiple points during our six hours in front of the game we jumped between the consoles on the fly and there wasn’t a performance issue in sight. And any reviewer will tell you straight up, that just hasn’t been happening with most multi-format releases!"

Could this be one of the few titles lessening the difference between both consoles? Will other developers follow their doings? Time will tell, but it's good to hear that this title won't be taking sides.

Turok is releasing in February 2008 from TouchStone and Propaganda Games.
