Motorstorm First PlayStation 3 title to Sell 3 Million World Wide

Sony Computer Entertainment and Evolution Studios' Motostorm has sold 3.06 million copies as of today. That makes this dirt racer the first PlayStation 3 title to sell over 3 million copies. I was expecting to see this happen with Resistance: Fall of Man first, but they are both great games. Congratulations Motostorm!

Motorstorm 2 Is Coming This Fall: Teaser Trailer

Well, here it is, what we have been waiting for. The official Motorstorm 2 teaser trailer was released today, and it's looking gorgeous (it's all CG by the way).
"The MotorStorm style of anything-goes racing is moving from the mountainous desert to a lush Pacific island, replete with thick swamps, dense jungle, towering peaks and steaming volcanoes. You’ll be rampaging through thick mud, tangled undergrowth, swift flowing rivers, and searing lava pools of this new location with all of the vehicles familiar to players of the first MotorStorm: ATVs, rally cars, buggies, motorbikes, race trucks, mudpluggers and Big Rigs. Joining the cast is the new monster truck class, likely to become a fan favorite (check out the video below)."
Some of the other features include 16 new multi-route tracks, 16 plyaers online, and a 4-player spli-screen mode. That should make us happy.

The sequel is going out of the desert and into the ocean. They say that the trailer for Motorstorm 2 should have been shown by the time we read this. Since it's not officially on stands, thats Wednesday. They do state however the trailer is all CG, but gives you an idea of what to expect.

The editors of the magazine claim they've seen some of the stuff Evolution's been working on and it's amazing. They tell us that the game will feature an upped online mode, monster trucks, along with bikes, ATVs, and big rigs. They say expect this title to have downloadable content as well. Evoltion Wants Motorstorm to Dominate

Evolution Studios, the creators of MotorStorm, wants their racer to "dominate reaction racing for a long time".

When he was asked about the future of MotorStorm, Jed Ashworth said that the question "goes way beyond downloadable content".

"We have the aim of turning our launch-window title into a sustained, massive brand," he said. "We plan to dominate reaction racing for a long time. We'd never aim any lower."

Unfortunately, Ashworth was not able to comment on plans for Motorstorm 2 (perhaps this week at GDC?).

"The picture some people have of us all working on [MotorStorm DLC] is somewhat off the mark," he said. "We're a multiple-project developer now."

MotorStorm sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Will their sequel do the same?

Motorstorm: Eagle's Nest & Diamondback Tracks Arriving Tomorrow

Those Motorstorm track packs we mentioned about a week back are going to be available on the PLAYSTATION Store tomorrow. The two tracks, Eagle's Nest and Diamondback Speedway, will be available on the store for the low price of $2.99.

You can play these two new tracks with all vehicle classes Online along with Time Attack and Eliminator.

Diamondback gives you all the thrills of a speedway circuit, where flat-out pedal-to-the-metal driving is the only way to compete. Speed is important, but watch out for those banked corners because this snake-like circuit is not for amateurs.

Eagle’s Nest is set on of top of a remote mesa, but it’s not for parking and viewing the sunset. Instead, it’s for those who wish to prey on your rivals and cause total mayhem. This track is all about experiencing a brutal, fast-paced, and adrenaline rushing racing experience.

Motorstorm Patch Version 3.1 Is Released

The latest update for Motorstorm was released today, being patch 3.1.

You now have the ability to either use a 2D grid screen for vehicle selection, or a 3D vehicle screen. The 2D screen saves on load time.

The host of a Motorstorm game can also choose mirrored tracks which reverses the entire geometry set of the tracks. Where you went left you will now go right. It takes getting used too.

They've also added a proximity meter in the game, and also works in the eliminator mode. Two new music tracks were added as well, being Devils Crossing’ by Elite Force and ‘Beat The Devil’ by Jiffster (Featuring Bard).
