PAIN Expansions Coming to PLAYSTATION Network Today

According to PS3Fanboy, we should be seeing some new content for Sony's PAIN today. It's a relief too since the game launched with only one level. Perhaps we will see another. We will update you with what we are seeing during today's PLAYSTATION Store update.

[PAIN expansions coming today]

Update 10:45 AM: Travis Williams has updated the official PAIN blog. They will be releasing the single player Fun with Explosives mode along with a free Hung Lo. He also explains multiplayer is on the way along with new game mode, gameplay environments, and best of all: pimp slapping.

Pirate Scurv Dogg: The Upcoming PAIN Character

Well, you know if the creators of PAIN are bringing a Ninja over to the game as a playable character, they need to bring over a pirate too, right? Well, they are working on a pirate just as well. This pirate's name is Scurv Dogg, but also known as S-Dizzle. Throwing this guy around the city is going to be one heck of a time.

Other than another character, the creators of PAIN are wrapping up the testing with the upcoming Fun With Explosives single player mode. The Ninja Hung Lo is nearly ready to launch (out of my slingshot) as soon as the testing is complete.

They hint at a new cheerleader or nurse character coming as their new poll states "What's Hotter? Cheerleaders or Nurses?". Next post, Travis will be updating us on the upcoming Amusement Park level.

PAIN's Next Character: Ninja Hung Lo

Jason Coker, on the development team for PAIN, posted on the official blog today about a new character coming to PAIN. This new character is a Ninja named Hung Lo.

Able to smack into tall buildings, take out Grannies, gracefully Ooch off crates and plenty more in a single launch, Hung Lo will be the next available addition to our PAIN family.

Thats not all though, the PAIN team is also working on a pirate character as well. There is still more. The team is also working on an all new single player mode. They put together a single player mode of Fun With Explosives. It’s complete with a Freestyle mode for practicing, the classic Normal, Hard, and PAINful difficulties, and it has its own Leaderboard

It's all coming soon.

PAIN: Not For 10 Year Olds, Or Is It?

It's funny when parents don't really care about the ESRB ratings on games. This video shows a 10 year old playing PAIN and a naughty word appears. Eh, who cares. It's just PAIN, not a bad influence at all.

Pay To Inflict PAIN On the Claus & Cookies

Travis Williams, developer of the PLAYSTATION Network title, PAIN, updated us today on the situation of the game. Mainly considering the errors received by Santa & Cookie.

"When we posted PAIN, Santa and Cookie were not uploaded to the PlayStation Store," Williams wrote. "Once the store has Cookie and Santa, they will appear as purchasable characters. Sorry about this confusion everyone."
So yeah, Destructoid misguided us. The two characters will be available for download today. He also hints that online play is coming for PAIN as well.
"When I said if you make enough noise we have to listen, I mean it. If online multiplayer is very important for you guys then I will have to take it to the development team and figure out what we can do. I would personally like this feature too. It would allow me to "represent" on some of you personally."
He also mentions PAIN themes are coming to the PLAYSTATION Store as well, official ones. So expect them soon too. I don't know about you, but I like this guy.

PAIN Is Still PAINful In the UK

This new trailer that was released on the European PLAYSTATION Store shows no matter how it happens, PAIN is still, well, painful.

PAIN Removed from the PLAYSTATION Network, Coming Back Soon

Update (3:18 PM): PAIN is back online on the PLAYSTATION Store.

Original Post: For you guys who downloaded the new PLAYSTATION Network title, PAIN, yesterday, you may have noticed a few issues in the game.

Problems include things such as the characters not loading, giving players an error message which told me to re-download and install PAIN to correct the problem. As well as issues with the online leaderboards, and a broken video on the community.

So as of today, PAIN was removed from the PLAYSTATION Store, but fear not, as it is coming back shorty. "It is something that should be working today," said Scott Groyl, PR specialist with Sony Computer Entertainment.

When it's back up, we will inform you.

  • Resistance: Fall of Man Map Pack #2 ($4.99)

PLAYSTATION Home Beta Arriving November 29th?

Keen eye Shadowman540 over at the Official US PLAYSTATION Boards has spotted something interesting in the new "Only On PS3" ad campaign commercial.

If you'll notice, the screen where it displays the PLAYSTATION Store to the left there, it shows PAIN in the store already. PAIN is arriving in the PLAYSTATION Store on November 29, 2007.

Now if you'll also notice, it displays PLAYSTATION Home as well. Could this mean a possible Home beta is coming around the time of the PAIN release?

PAIN's Six Painful Gameplay Modes

Travis Williams, the Senior Producer of Sony Computer Entertainment America, made a blog post on the PlayStation.Blog Sony site today about the six gameplay modes of the upcoming PLAYSTATION Network title, PAIN. They are below:

Single Player

  • PAINdemonium – This is your PAIN sandbox. Go nuts in this mode and collect points. The better you are in this mode, the harder you will be to beat in Multiplayer HORSE.
  • Mime Toss – Fly through the air and toss French Mimes through glass. (My fave single player mode). Do it in record time for trophies.
  • Spank The Monkey – Monkeys are taking over the city. Spank ‘em. You know you want to. This mode separates the kids from the adults in PAINful (the most difficult) mode.

Multiplayer

  • HORSE – All those smooth moves you perfected in PAINdemonium are worth points. Go head to head with your friends and see if they can make all the sweet launches you can.
  • Bowling – 10 Pins + Explosives + Cereal + Anvils – Common Sense X (1-4 Players) = The New Hotness
  • Fun With Explosives – Dude, it’s all about blowing yourself up as many times as you can. How can that possibly be ANYTHING but right?
Basically, the modes are all about attempting to murder yourself in the coolest way possible. When the title is released on the Network, we will let you know.
