PlayStation Day 2008 Keynote Breakdown

PlayStation Day 2008 came with a keynote with Kaz Hirai and David Reeves from Sony Computer Entertainment. They started the keynote opening wtih showcases of LittleBigPlanet, Go!Explore, PlayTV, Secret Agent Clank, echochrome and Buzz! Quiz TV. Then they went into showing SingStar, Elefunk, KILLZONE 2, Siren, Home, Hot Shots Golf, SOCOM, and Resistance 2.

Kaz Hirai stated that he realized the PlayStation Home delay announcement at TGS 2007 was disappointing, but Home will be open ONLY when it is ready.

David Reeves came on to talk about Buzz! Quiz TV speaking on wireless buzzers, user created quizes and downloadable quiz packs. All forms of user generated content.

Insomniac's Ted Price steps on stage speaking on Resistance 2. They are focusing on Community, Campaign, Cooperative, and Competitive, the four C's. They want to redesign Resistance.net more like Facebook including website matcmaking and such. They are going to have "battles within battles" for the game's online. 5 different squads with different objectives, dynamic objectives. Every squad must go against rival squad with same objectives. With 60 players there are always 5 or 6 players for whom you develop a "really intense hatred."

After Price left the stage, Evolution's Paul Hollywood took the stage saying that Motorstorm: Pacific Rift promises "brutal offroad racing" and ""Not just updated the graphics and added a "2" to the title." The game will have twice as many tracks as the original and include monster trucks as well as 4-player split-screen as well.

DICE's Sean Decker comes on stage to talk about Mirror's Edge, a game about a girl name Faith who is on the run. "We're going to put you in the shoes of Faith" he says. Expect to see this video on the PlayStation Network this week.

They also announced PlayTV will be releasing in September 2008 in Europe for 99 euros. Thats just about it, day is over. I'm happy but sad no mention of in-game XMB.

Resistance 2: First Gameplay Footage

Looks like GameTrailers TV won't be getting the exclusive this time. Straight from PlayStation Day 2008 comes the first gameplay footage of Resistance 2. It is stunning to watch so go ahead and enjoy!

Resistance 2 Demo to be at PlayStation Day 2008

An Insomniac Games employee has confirmed on the NeoGAF message boards that a Resistance 2 demo will be playable at Sony's upcoming PlayStation Day 2008. The event is press-only, however, but we know the game will still somehow get leaked out of there.

Resistance 2: New Media Coming this Month

A new Insomniac Games e-mail update lets us know that due to upcoming media events this month, such as PlayStation Day on May 6, 2008, we are going to see some new images of their upcoming Resistance 2. We will update you next week when that occurs.

Resistance 2 Debut Trailer

GameTrailers TV seems to have made the Resistance 2 trailer live before the show even began. You can view Insomniac's newest title above. We will tell you something, the trailer really does tease the living crap out of us. We want more! But wait, whats this? The first gameplay footage is to arrive on June 13, 2008 (which happens to be a Friday), meaning we have to wait another two months till we see more. Why must you tease Insomniac?

Update: It was just pulled for some reason, possibly an accidental posting? For those who need some insight on the trailer, (SPOILER) it showed Nathan Hale coming out of a door saying he had 19 hours to live, and outside was the ocean and in the sky it displayed chimera ships and invasion.

Reminder: Resistance 2 Trailer at 12:00 AM

Just a little reminder to all the readers. Resistance 2 Trailer Friday Night at Midnight on GT.TV

Well, the preview for this week's upcoming episode of GameTrailers TV is up today, and it confirms a trailer of the upcoming Resistance 2 for Friday night at a special time of 12:00am. Other than that, the first Yoda and Darth Vader gameplay for Soul Calibur IV along with some exclusives of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be featured.

Next GameTrailers TV to Feature Resistance 2 Trailer?

Geoff Keighley, host of GameTrailers TV, updated us today on the next episode of the show.

The next episode is to be the biggest episode yet, containing seven world exclusives in high-definition. He writes that they will also "have something special from our friends at Insomniac Games and Sony Computer Entertainment."

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that is Resistance 2.

GameStop: Resistance to Feature Pokemon

According to the people who run the GameStop website, Pokemon are going to be featured in Insomniac's upcoming Resistance 2. Thats right, if you take a look at their screenshot gallery, you'll see images and images of wonderful Pokemon.

Don't look surprised, this isn't the first time they've done something stupid regarding a PlayStation 3 game.

Own the Resistance Chimera Skull (You Know, from the Box)

Are you in love with Insomniac's Resistance: Fall of Man? Getting psyched for Resistance 2? We are. The Chimera skull from the first game's boxart is now up for auction on eBay. It was originally used in an early TV advertisment for the game.

The auction begins on March 28, 2008 at 11:00 AM for those who want to buy it. Unforunately, we want it, and it is starting at a good 2.5K. Oh well.

LittleBigPlanet, KILLZONE 2, and Resistance 2 Get UK Release

VideoGamer.com seems to have gotten their hands on a release schedule for Sony Computer Entertainment UK. According to the release, KILLZONE 2 and LittleBigPlanet will be arriving sometime in September, with Resistance 2 following after in November. This was even confirmed by Sony.

Summer to Fall is going to be a great time for PlayStation 3 owners. No word on a North American release schedule, but they are probably around the same.

Resistance 2: Multiplayer Classes Artwork

Insomniac has released some new artwork for their upcoming Resistance 2. The artworks include the short and long logos for the game along with the Spec Ops and Medic images for the cooperative multiplayer classes. Scott Steinburg: Resistance 2 is 50GB

Sony Computer Entertainment's Scott Steinberg and Evan Wells sat down with Geoff Keighly at GameTrailers TV and talked Blu-Ray, and how Sony will win the console war in 2008. Regarding Resistance: Fall of Man 2, he says that its about 50GB. Enjoy!

Insomniac Games Still Making New IPs

Insomniac Games have established themselves quite nicely with their two succesful IPs known as Ratchet & Clank and Resistance. You'd think they'd keep making sequels as long as the money comes in, but Insomniac President Ted Price explains that they intend to "continue to produce new IP, there's no question about that."

Whats coming in these new IPs? We have no clue.

BBC Previews: Motorstorm 2, Resistance 2, "Speechless" Secret Title

Darren Waters of BBC was shown some exclusive previews recently of upcoming PLAYSTATION 3 games.

He was first shown Motorstorm 2, which is due out sometime during Christmas. He explains that unlike the first game which features the desert as the main environment, the sequel features a lush island environment along with what the first game was lacking, four player split-screen. The title is some months away from completion, but he explains the game's engine was rock solid and the graphics were highly impressive as you would expect from "one of the best-looking racing franchises."

He also previewed Resistance 2. He was only shown a trailer, but he stated that it was clear Insomniac Games wanted to make a statement, especially since the online hosts 60 players at the same time. He explains that it screams epic and concludes with "You haven't seen what we are truly capable of."

The editor teases us with a new title he was show. This new title is due out in 2009, but he was shown to absolute secrecy. The game is so secret that when he mentioned it to Phil Harrison, he was unsure to admit the title existed (as he was not informed he was told). He teases more by telling us the title left him "speechless" and the footage he was shown was truly "in game".

What could this title be? Sony Computer Entertainment showed it to him, so it would have to be published by them? What could be so speechless? Could it be Final Fantasy VII (they own the rights), or perhaps Sly Cooper 4? Maybe a whole new IP? Start counting down to E3 people.

GDC 2008: Insomniac Careers Video

A new (and quite funny) careers video for Insomniac Games showed up on the internet today. It's really a fun watch. If you notice on the computer screen towards the end of the video, it displays 0708. Could this be the release or first showing date of Resistance 2? I guess we will find out when the time comes.

At the DICE Summit 2008, GameTrailers caught up with Ted Price, president of Insomniac Games, to discuss the upcoming Resistance: Fall of Man Sequel. An extensive interview, so enjoy the watch!

Resistance 2: Some New Details

PlayThree has got some exclusive information on Insomniac's upcoming Resistance: Fall of Man 2.

- Online matches are separated into 30 vs. 30 teams which will then be divided into squads with their own objectives.

- The story starts with Nathan travelling to Iceland, the base of the SRPA (Special Projects Research Administration). When he arrives, he finds out that other humans have been infected by mutant DNA who also have mutant healing and telepathic abilities. They were brought together as a task force named the Sentinels, each having their own abilities and weapons.

- The cooperative campaign is all about teamwork. "The initial bridge attack forces players to deal with danger from multiple angles. The Titans meanswhile require the squad to divide and conquer, as these behomoths can easily take out an entire squad with one hit from a rocket cannon."

- There are 3 co-op character classes. Soldier, medic, and special-ops trooper. Each can collect XP points to improve their skills (ala Call of Duty 4.).

- The Splitter is a new weapon, a mini-gun that can spray a barrage of rounds.

- Special abilities can be 'charged up' by killing aliens. If your shields are down, kill more aliens to recharge.

- The medic will shoot a special gun on the injured.

- The new stalker has been significantly upgraded in detail level and functionality. It now features a big red eye at the front.

- New super-bosses. Giant size. That aren't taken down the same way as other enemies are taken down. They have full AI, and dynamic animation.

All PLAYSTATION 3 owners should leave your homes now and go get a headset because when Resistance 2 is released, your going to want one.
