Stranglehold Downloadable Map Pack Coming Soon

Today, Midway announced a new downloadable map pack for their PLAYSTATION 3 October 2007 release, Stranglehold.

The upcoming map pack will be massive, containing 10 map packs from Kowloon Market to the Chicago rooftops. Also in this map pack is 21 new multiplayer character skins.

No word on the release date, but it's coming soon. The press release below.

MIDWAY ANNOUNCES STRANGLEHOLD DOWNLOADABLE MAP PACK COMING SOON

Midway today announced a downloadable map pack for the acclaimed 3rd person action adventure title, Stranglehold, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game systems. The map pack features 10 additional multiplayer maps ranging from the Kowloon Market to Wong’s Estate Grounds to the Rooftops of Chicago, as well as 21 all-new multiplayer character skins. The Xbox 360 version will include 10 new achievements worth 250 points. Rated “M” for mature by the ESRB, the Stranglehold downloadable map pack will be available soon in North America via the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE.

Stranglehold Goes Gold on PLAYSTATION 3 In Europe

Midway Games has just announced that Stranglehold has went gold on the PLAYSTATION 3 for Europe.

The title has shipped to European retailers and is now available for the suggested retail price of €69.95. For those who want to try out the action that is John Woo's Tequila, then head over to the PLAYSTATION Store and download the demo.

Midway May Be Making PLAYSTATION 3 Lead SKU

In an interview with Mike Bilder of Midway Games and Stranglehold, GamaSutra asked and Mike replied:

It's pretty ubiquitous, yeah. What do you think you could have done differently from the start, to alleviate that stuff? Because you said, hindsight...

MB: I think a lot of people and a lot of focus as far as games that we have internally that are going to be multi-SKU are trying to put the PS3 out in front now, make that your lead SKU. And in the same way I think a lot of people put the PS2 as their lead SKU in the last hardware generation, and then Xbox came after.

Does this mean that Midway's games are going to be lead on the PLAYSTATION 3?

Stranglehold Finally Gold, Woo Fans Rejoice

Today, Midway anounced that Stranglehold has gone gold for the Playstation 3. The action third-person shooter done in collaboration with John Woo will pack the film "Hard-Boiled" in the Collector's Edition for $69.99.

"The 50GB capacity of Blu-ray disc allows PS3 content publishers to do things simply not possible on our competitor's 9GB DVD-based systems. Thanks to the advanced technology found in PS3, developers like Midway can truly realize their visions, bringing consumers even closer to the game," said Riley Russell, senior vice president Third Party Relations from SCEA. Stranglehold continues the story of Inspector Tequila, played by Chow Yun-Fat that started in 1992 with John Woo's "Hard Boiled"

Stranglehold Demo to Hit PSN Thursday

A moderator on the Midway Games Community has just confirmed a Stranglehold demo which is set to hit PSN this week among the regularly scheduled PlayStation Network updates this Thursday. This is good news for fans of the game who have been waiting as I have. Hopefully with this update will come skate too.
