Sony Boss Talks PlayStation Network Expansion

The PLAYSTATION 3 started off badly, but things are starting to pick up as this new year begins.

Sony Computer Entertainment boss and CEO Howard Stringer tells News.com that the PlayStation Network will soon be expanding with video distribution and other forms of multimedia for your console. Since Sony owns both music and movie companies, this should be a piece of cake t o them.

In two months, Sony will hold a press conference about this, let the waiting being.

It was only a matter of time.

I think it was all planned to go this way anyway. The PS3 is arguably the most powerful and diverse media center ever created.

1080p support. Blu-Ray films. Ripping CDs to the HDD. Storing (now) Divx and other video formats to the HDD. Downloading full (and original) games. Playlists for both music and pictures. It's EVERYTHING.

And with more than 70% of the home video market (rumor has it that Paramount has a pull out clause which means they may jump ship any day now with Universal keeping quiet right now) the PS3 is about to explode.

And I can wait two months. That should give them enough time to have a redesigned store (please, please, please, please, please, please) and start adding content from the big studios also.

YAY!
