Capcom Responds to PLAYSTATION 3 Devil May Cry 4 Load Times

On the official Capcom blog, they've posted a new message regarding the installation of data onto your PLAYSTATION 3 upon entering your copy of Devil May Cry 4 into that sleek slot. And yes, it will take about 25 minutes to do so.

While you let it install, you'll watch some screens appear that tells you all about the Devil May Cry 4 back story. Think of it as a blast from all three games in 25 minutes. If you don't want to watch it, then go make a sandwich. Don't want to play on an empty stomach, do you?

They say that once installed, the PLAYSTATION 3 version of the game has near-Super Nintendo speed load times, and that you will be amazed how fast the levels load.

It's great for them to try to calm us and all, but all I know is I want my 5GB. It should be optional.

[Sigh. DMC4 “load times” on PS3. DO NOT PANIC!]

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. announced today that since the PLAYSTATION 3 began taking part in the Stanford University Folding@Home project on March 22, 2007, it's reached a total number of one million registered users.

“Since partnering with SCEI, we have seen our research capabilities increase by leaps and bounds through the continued participation of Folding@Home users,” said Vijay Pande, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Stanford University and Folding@home project lead. “Now we have over one million PS3 users registered for Folding@Home, allowing us to address questions previously considered impossible to tackle computationally, with the goal of finding cures to some of the world’s most life-threatening diseases. We are grateful for the extraordinary worldwide participation by PS3 and PC users around the globe.”

Folding@Home has been a great success on the PLAYSTATION 3. I remind any of you with extra time to let some folding be done.

Later on this year, Spring 2008, Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is getting some map add-ons for download on the PLAYSTATION Store.

"We've demonstrated our commitment to delivering the best multiplayer experience in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and that continues with our plans for new downloadable content," explains Infinity Ward's Community Manager, Robert Bowling. "We're excited about the new maps, and the added gameplay variety, and we can't wait to wrap things up and get online with everyone."

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was the best selling game of 2007. What do you do when you have a game like that? You get more money.

Gearbox Software Hinting At Something Big?

Randy Pitchford, the president of Gearbox Software (developers of the upcoming Borderlands) is seeking a senior artist for a massive project. This project is so massive that "when you find out what this is, you'll likely agree that I can't oversell this one." The job listing at the Gearbox Software official site reads "trust us, it's huge", pointing to a "megaton" triple-A release.

The teams upcoming Borderlands already looks amazing enough. What could be this new megaton they are planning? Whatever it is, let's hope it lands on the PLAYSTATION 3.

Devil May Cry 4's Accomplishments Show Home Connection

PS3Fanboy are some of the lucky bastards (jay kay) who got their hands on Devil May Cry 4 already, and they've been playing through it for a while.

This game includes the Xbox 360's achievement's in it as well, but the PLAYSTATION 3 version has an online ranking in the game that you can check. The weird thing is that when you get an "Accomplishment", the message comes up out of the PLAYSTATION 3's operating system.

Could this be one of the first games with Home's trophies incorporated in them? Hopefully we will find out soon.

[DMC4 accomplishments are intriguing]

PLAYSTATION 3 Version of Devil May Cry 4 Requires 20 Minute Install

The PLAYSTATION 3 version of Devil May Cry 4 is arriving tomorrow, but does come with a feature we may not want. The PLAYSTATION 3 version comes with a non-optional 5GB install to the hard-drive so that the game has no load times.

Whats even worse is the length of this install, which was clocked at about 21 minutes and 41 seconds. The game's load times were only about three seconds faster than that of the 360's with this install.

Capcom, it's time to release a patch, we don't want this install.

Japan Is Hating on PlayStation Home

We can pretty much say that mostly everyone here is interested in Sony's upcoming Home, right? It may not be the same in Japan. In the most recent issue of the Famitsu magazine, they quizzed readers on their thoughts of Home. The question was "What do you think about member services like PlayStation Home?" The results:

- 27.3 percent are interested in trying it out
- 37.3 percent don't care
- 35.4 percent dislike such services
One high-schoool student even left a quote in the magazine, and a college student, and company man as well.
A high-school student says "I won't allow myself to be trapped in some fake reality." A 22-year-old college student: "It just doesn't look like it'd be fun as a game." A 24-year-old company guy says "It's more fun to enjoy myself in the real world."
Why all the hate Japan?
