Super Stardust HD Getting Trophies, More

Housemarque have just completed their upcoming Super Stardust HD expansion pack. The "Solo Pack" will lead into the "Team Pack", including "a split screen Versus Match and Co-Op, ship editor, a true 5.1 orchestral soundtrack, and trophies."

They even say that they are looking into more. "We have been experimenting with a game mode we call "Twin gun" mode (not disclosing specifics at the moment, maybe you can guess?) and how to make music generated levels, etc." Makes me think a bit of Everyday Shooter. You never know.

Grand Theft Auto IV Makes Comedy Central's The Daily Show

The latest episode of The Daily Show on Comedy Central features none other than Grand Theft Auto IV. Jon is one funny guy, thanking us for watching when we could be playing Grand Theft Auto IV. Oh yeah Jon? What if I was doing both? Exactly. Enjoy!

Grand Theft Auto IV Multiplayer Back Online

If you didn't know, Grand Theft Auto IV on the PlayStation 3 has been having some online issues. We are happy to say the game is back online and can now be played in multiplayer matches. What are you waiting for, get off onAXIS and go play on of the fourteen multiplayer modes. Yes, fourteen.

Although I got to say, now that I'm finally online I am a bit disappointed with the character creation. There is so little choice (roughly 4 choice to select for each piece of body wear and face). I'm not that far in, but do you unlock more for your online character as you progress through the game?

Dark Void: First Screenshots

Tiscali Games has the first screenshots for Capcom's Dark Void. The site describes the game as a Sci-Fi game involving a jetpack and has something to do with UFO's. Thats really all we can get, our Google translations aren't working. View the screenshots at the link.

Canadian PlayStation Store Pricing Fixed

Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that it will be adjusting the prices of downloadable content on the PlayStation Store for Canada during tomorrow's weekly update. Canadian residents have been getting angry at Sony due to being overprices, and Sony is finally addressing it.

"We are continually looking for ways to enhance the player experience on the PLAYSTATION®Network, and downloadable content through the PLAYSTATION Store is just one of our areas of focus," said Grace Chen, Senior Manager for the PLAYSTATION Store. “We anticipate that this price adjustment will meet the expectations of our Canadian consumers and provide them with a better PLAYSTATION Network experience."

Great to see they are finally addressing this situation. Canada must be happy.

The Grand Theft Auto IV Niko Bellic Munny

Winston Acosta, who has done many other fantastic Munny designs before, comes back today with a Munny of Niko Bellic, from the recently released Grand Theft Auto IV. Mr. Bellic comes with his gun and cell-phone, just like in the game, and all we know is we want one. Too bad we cannot get one though.

New Site May Most Likely Launch This Weekend, Second Thoughts on Name

(to the left: More teasers!) We are probably finally opening the new site this weekend. We are almost fresh out of space on Blogger with 12MB remaining, so don't expect too many screenshot posts until the new site opens.

We are still having second thoughts on the new name we chose however. We admire site names such as Kotaku, JoyStiq, and Ripten. They are all original names that sound well. The name we chose (which we cannot reveal) is a name like that, but we are not sure whether it is the right name for the new site. So go on, toss your best original names at us, and if all go's bad, then we might have to make up a word (or you can do that for us).

God of War III to Feature Online Play?

On SCEA's website there is a new job listing for an "Online Gameplay Programmer" for the team behind "the critically acclaimed AAA titles God of War and God of War II." Grand Theft Auto IV: PS3 Steinway Garden Drunk Glitch

onAXIS reader StallinNoLie e-mailed us this video of a glitch he encountered on the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV. The video, while contains crappy quality but still fully shows the glitch, shows a drunk at the Steinway Beer Garden disappearing upon a turn of the camera angle. Hopefully Rockstar will address minor glitches such as these as well as bigger ones such as "Freezing" (3 times already Rockstar!).

LittleBigPlanet X-Play Kyle Shubel Interview

X-Play's Morgan spoke with Kyle Shubel about Media Molecule's upcoming LittleBigPlanet for PlayStation 3. They say they will have challenging physical environments rather than have the game be really easy. As you know, this game is all about creativity, however you don't start with all the tools to make these levels. As you play the game, you can unlock textures and buildings and such. They say the game is coming September to October, but they want to get a beta out in the summer. Enjoy the watch!

Grand Theft Auto IV: PS3 vs. Xbox 360 Pop-In Comparison

The comparisons keep on coming. A new comparison for Grand Theft Auto IV on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 focus on the pop-ins, meaning the things that come into focus as you get closer rather than already be there when you are farther. By the looks of the trees in the helicopter ride, the Xbox 360 version has more pop-ins (pretty sure that is a bad thing) .

Grand Theft Auto IV for PS3 Having Online Problems

It seems that Rockstar's newly released Grand Theft Auto IV for the PlayStation 3 is having online problems. Whenever you try to go into an online match through the in-game cell-phone, it will tell you "Cannot connect to game provider, please try again later."

I'm pretty upset as I was just trying to get on hoping this would be a sick joke, but alas it was not. Hopefully Rockstar will get the game back up soon.

Rockstar Support: Grand Theft Auto IV Freeze Problems

Some of you may have been experiencing problems with the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto IV, freezing problems.

Rockstar was contacted, and the representative stated that 60GB launch PlayStation 3's seem to be the ones having the problem. Only some of them, however. He states the Xbox 360 is having the "exact same problem", and they are trying to figure out a solution. He said they are not sure when the fix is coming and apoligized once again "I feel terrible about this." If only EA was this concerned about their customers.

Fatal Inertia EX Coming to PlayStation Network Next Month

Once ment to be a PlayStation 3 launch title, then switched over to the Xbox 360 as a really bad game, and now an upcoming revamped PlayStation Network download. The new game, titled Fatal Inertia EX will arrive on the Network in late May for a mere $29.99. KOEI does not intend to release the game on Blu-Ray disc however.

“After the launch of the Xbox 360 version, we had a unique situation that allowed us to reflect on what could be done with the PlayStation 3 version,” said lead producer Mike Bond in an e-mail interview with Multiplayer. “But having watched the growth of the PlayStation Network’s user base and the game’s multiplayer component, we felt the strength of this game would be in its online community.”

Fatal Inertia EX will come with many new featuers and gameplay tweaks.

“We’ve experienced quite a few growing pains over the last 3 years, as a team and as a studio,” said Bond. “Back in the summer of ’05, we were a very young, very small team assigned with the challenge of developing a next-generation game for a completely new platform.”

Grand Theft Auto IV In-Game TV on PlayStation 3 Features Full-Screen Option

One major difference between the Grand Theft Auto IV PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions is the in-game television. Rockstar has done nice to make each version almost exactly the same, but this difference is very noticable.

The PlayStation 3 version features a full-screen option for when you are watching the in-game TV while the Xbox 360 version does not.

Metal Gear Online Beta Gets New Content

For all those in the Metal Gear Online beta (such as myself), Konami has updated the game today. The new update comes with a new map named Midtown Maelstrom, part of the Middle East stage in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. "This consists of some main streets and alternate routes. Numerous alleys are in between buildings, and are dark, narrow, and very confusing."

A new gametype rule was added as well. This rule is called Sneaking Mission. In this gametype rule, there is one character and two teams in the game. Those are Snake, Red team, and Blue team. Snake has to collect a certain number of dog tags, by having other players stunned or held up. The other two teams have to kill snake a certain amount of times or defeat more players on the opposing team. Snake's mini robo-sidekick Mk. II is available to assist him if there are more than 10 people in the game.

Head to your game client and download that update now.

We gotta admit, when we clicked play to view this new 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, trailer we expected to see nothing but crap. On the latest episode of X-Play, Newsweek Technology General Editor, N'Gai Croal and Kotaku Managing Editor Brian Crecente are featured as guests where they discuss the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto IV.

Brian Crecente says that he "suspects Sony will be getting their on downloadable content." N'Gai Croal says that Microsoft's paid downloadable content buys them at least "12-18 months of exclusivity on that, but I don't see how Rockstar creates all that content and never brings it to PS3." Grand Theft Auto IV PS3 Only Running at 630p?

According to some knowledgeable members over at Beyond3D, the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV runs at a 720p resolution (1280x720) while the PlayStation 3 version only runs at 630p (1120x630). As of now, this is unconfirmed, although they still say the PlayStation 3 version still looks better

Sierra Spring Break 08:

At the Sierra Spring Break 08 in Mallorca last week, Mark Ranel, president of Terminal Reality, says that Ghostbusters on the PlayStation 3 has been held back due to the fact that it is also coming out on the Xbox 360. He says that if the game was PlayStation 3 only, they would have been able to have double the amount of objects on-screen. Check out the mini-interview below with VG247.

VG247: Why choose to lead on the PS3?

Mark Randell : Very simple reason: Ghostbusters is the property of Sony Pictures.

VG247: Right. But the game will be coming out on the 360, it’s a simultaneous release. Did Sony insist it was lead?

MR : Personally, I want to show off our PS3 technology. We’re one of the few developers who love the PS3 and have a great time with it. We have great technology for the PS3 and we want to show it off.

VG247: Isn’t it the same for the 360?

MR: We’re running the same game for both platforms but if we made a PS3-only game, for example, you could double the amount of objects on screen that you’re seeing. The PlayStation 3 has seven processors and the 360 only has three, so seven versus three means you can do a lot more on the PS3. We’re keeping the game the same over both platforms so we don’t want to take out any features.

VG247: So is the game scaled down because of the limitations of the 360?

MR : For example, we’ve reserved one whole processor on the PS3 for Dolby Digital 5.1 sound whereas on the 360 you have part of one processor to do that. So we can have a lot better sound mixing and a lot more effects going on at the same time. That kinds of makes us do a little bit less in the game [360] but makes for better audio. If we’re doing a PS3 only game however, we could be doing a lot more. We could be pushing a lot more on the screen.

[Sierra Spring Break 08: PS3 exclusivity would have allowed double the amount of objects on-screen, says Ghostbusters dev]
