Surfer Girl: Square Enix Re-Releasing Final Fantasy VII for PLAYSTATION Network

According to Surfer Girl, on January 14, 2007 she revealed that Square Enix is remaking games for the PLAYSTATION Network.

Today, in the comments section of one of her posts, a questioner asks how Square Enix will remake their games, and what games. Surfer Girl responded "Primarily graphical touches. I hear FF7 (again, not in that rumored all-out remake fashion that has been mention)."

If anything, I'd take both Final Fantasy VII on the PLAYSTATION Network and a full-fledged remake. If one, I'd go for the full-fledged though.

Update 1/17/08: In a new comment post by Surfer Girl, she reveals the PLAYSTATION Network release will be more of just a re-release rather than a remake.

Those Motorstorm track packs we mentioned about a week back are going to be available on the PLAYSTATION Store tomorrow. The two tracks, Eagle's Nest and Diamondback Speedway, will be available on the store for the low price of $2.99.

You can play these two new tracks with all vehicle classes Online along with Time Attack and Eliminator.

Diamondback gives you all the thrills of a speedway circuit, where flat-out pedal-to-the-metal driving is the only way to compete. Speed is important, but watch out for those banked corners because this snake-like circuit is not for amateurs.

Eagle’s Nest is set on of top of a remote mesa, but it’s not for parking and viewing the sunset. Instead, it’s for those who wish to prey on your rivals and cause total mayhem. This track is all about experiencing a brutal, fast-paced, and adrenaline rushing racing experience.

PLAYSTATION 3 Virtua Fighter 5 Gathers Dust: Patch for Xbox 360

It gets sad when you see one of the best fighters being abandoned one one console it was originally exclusive to to be supported more on it's later released port.

SEGA has recently patched the Xbox 360 version of Virtua Fighter 5 Online while leaving the PLAYSTATION 3 Virtua Fighter 5 still sitting in the dust, with no online patch even released yet. I currently own the game, and would love to take it online. If only SEGA would patch it.

PixelJunk Monsters Launching Next Week on PLAYSTATION Network

Dylan Cuthbert, the President and Exectuive Producer for Q Games, updated us today on the PlayStation.Blog of PixelJunk Monsters' status.

According to Cuthbert, you can put your other games down because this title is going to keep you occupied for weeks and weeks again.

The point of the game is to protect yrour isand and it's villages from the monster horde stampeding through the game. There are difficulties to make the game easy, medium, or hard. The easy set includes ten waves of monsters. There are many types of these monsters, but they are fast.

When a monster is killed, it drops money for you to pick up and build more towers for defense. Sometimes they drop important gems that you can use to upgrade your current towers.

The types of towers included in the game are the Ice Tower, Fire Tower, Tesla (Electric) Tower, Laser Tower, Hive Tower, and Mortar Tower.

Resistance 2 GameInformer Scans Reveal More

We may have seen the game revealed already, but now we have some scans online.

Resistance 2 is one hell of a game. Insomniac is opening up the sequel with a bang due to complaints of the first game not opening up with something to remember.

Insomniac wants to have monstrous bosses, and they are. The bosses you are going to see in Resistance 2 are bigger than anything you saw in the first game. They want to deliver encounters like you've never seen before. One of these new enemies is The Goalith, which is a new enemy type that towers 150 over the player.

Regarding online, Insomniac states "With 60 players, we want to give that sense of epic battle... But at the same time, we don't want that to be the gameplay. We actually think more focused squad versus squad gameplay is going to be the best". When you enter online, you'll go into a lobby with smaller four-to-eight person squads, major communication, and a nice pre-game before the actual battle begins. The Squads each have their own objectives. The game will sport full-featured profile pages, social networking concepts, open clan and party systems, improved voice chat, and much more.

Square Enix President Yoichi Wada Expresses His Thoughts on the PLAYSTATION 3

Yoichi Wada, the big boss of Japanese gaming company, Square Enix, likes to express his opinions. What does he feel about the PLAYSTATION 3? Wada feels that Sony isn't expressing the use of the console properly, as in not telling the consumer what kind of games are on the market.

He feels that the recent price cuts are going to improve sales big time, but he beleives the price is too cheap for what you get. He claims his phone is more expensive than the PLAYSTATION 3, but hey, he's rich. We aren't surprised. You can read that full interview with him here.

Japanese PLAYSTATION 3 Ad Falsely Advertises

In a world where there is barley any news, one man must write another story before the readers go mad. So here is the attempt.

A new free PLAYSTATION 3 brochure in Japan seems to falsely advertise the console. It states that the PLAYSTATION 3 can enjoy all of the other PLAYSTATION series (meaning PS2, PSone). In the brochure however, it advertises the 40GB model which is not backwards compatible.

Company error? Probably.
