Rainbow Six Vegas 2: New Details from Interview

A new interview IGN had with Jean-Pascal Cambiotti, Lead Game Designer for Rainbow Six Vegas 2, reveals some new details on the upcoming sequel.

He explains the gameplay mechanics, saying they are extremely similar to the gameplay mechanics from the first title. They did some improvements to the weapons mechanics, such as re-balancing the weapons and adding bullet penetration to the mix.

They also enhanced the storyline as well, to make it feel like your really playing tactically as you customize and evolve your character.

The character customizaton is you create one character that continually evolves and unlocks new gear. This applies whether your playing alone, co-op, or online.Female characters are an option as well now. Body-armor can be equipped as well.

The enemy AI has improved greatly. Some enemies are now equipped with night vision making them harder to defeat in dark areas.

He explains briefly the storyline: "RSV2 sheds light on what happened before Las Vegas was under attack. So you will lead your team in a very unique and new location outside the US before ever going to Vegas. In addition, the player then arrives in Las Vegas and plays through different mission in Vegas while Logan is in Mexico in the first game. Finally, you will be able to conclude the story in an exotic location that should prove to be thrilling and satisfying."

He says players will be rewarded for playing the game with A.C.E.S. rewards, with rewards such as 11 new weapons not found in Rainbow Six Vegas.

New Features Coming to Folding@Home

With firmware 2.1 also comes new features for PLAYSTATION 3's Folding@home, which will soon be automatically updated by just clicking its icon.

The new update includes a sleep timer, background music, and more. View the list below.

- Go to Settings menu, select Automatic Shutdown and then After Current. You will see a little clock appearing on the top right hand corner of the screen. When this clock reaches zero, the machine will power off completely so you can sleep quietly through the night. In this option the machine will power off after sending the data back to Stanford University so your contribution to the project is maximized.

- You may also choose to shut down after a limited period of time (for example, 3 or 4 hours). To do that choose the Automatic Shutdown option and click on the “In 01h:00m” timer. You will now be able to change the timer settings. After rotating the timer to a new time, you should now see your selected timer appear at the top right corner of the screen. This timer will count all the way down to 0 and then power off the system.

- To disable active timer at any time, go to Settings, choose Automatic Shutdown and then Disable.
The music features has it's own list. Which you can see below.
- To activate the music player select Music and then a channel. The channels are automatically populated with songs you have stored on your Hard Disk Drive! For holiday music I prefer to choose Dramatic (yeah!) and voila - music is playing.

- If you wish to skip to another track, just use a combination of X + left or right arrow. You can also change the channel by choosing X + up or down arrow. Happy listening!

- To stop music from playing, select Music again from the main menu and choose “disable.”

- Your music playback selection will be saved between consecutive runs of Folding@home.

"Developers are telling us that they are starting to create their games on PS3 first and take advantage of the hardware capabilities and then port down to other platforms so we are seeing tremendous progress from the third party community in terms of what they are able to do with our development kits."

Rumor: God of War 3 Late 08', Mass Effect for PS3, More

The latest rumor mill on VideoGamer reports some new PLAYSTATION 3 rumors. These new rumors include God of War III and Mass Effect.

Next winter is looking like being one to remember for video game fans. Sony's Santa Monica studio is said to be hard at work on Kratos' next-gen debut. God of War III is most likely on it's way, according to VideoGamer. They rated it as a 3/5 chance of happening.

The next rumor is about Mass Effect. Speaking while on panel show Bonus Round, industry analyst Michael Pachter gave his opinion on where Mass Effect will end up in the future - not only on the Xbox 360. "Trust me, Electronic Arts, when they threw out the 300 million that is multiplatform that is not 360 only... I wouldn't be shocked if Mass Effect 1 came to PlayStation 3." They believe it will eventually come to the PLAYSTATION 3, but not before the Xbox 360 has seen a period of exclusivity.

The last rumor is about PLAYSTATION 3 Rockstar exclusive, L.A. Noire. Take Two released its results for the fourth quarter of its financial year. Missing on a forecast for titles for 2008 is Rockstar's LA Noire, causing people to believe that the secretive title won't be out until 2009. They write "While it's true that the game is missing from the forecast, Rockstar's financial year runs from November 1st to October 31st, meaning LA Noire could still see a release in November or December 2008."
