IGN's The Orange Box Preview

IGN has received it's preview copy of Valve & EA's The Orange Box for the PLAYSTATION 3. It seems nothing has changed from the 1UP preview of the game. IGN tries not to make a big deal of The Orange Box's biggest problem on the PLAYSTATION 3 as they write "Unless you require your games to never dip below 30fps, you should not strike The Orange Box off your PS3 holiday wish list". Below 30fps? On my list, thats a no-no. For now, enjoy these videos.

Home Beta Build 0.7.7 Released for Testers

Good news for all you PLAYSTATION Home beta testers. The Home Beta Build version 0.7.7 has just been released. According to the users over at the PS3Forums, it contains a few new features.

These features include a new building in the Home Square, you are now able to place your own pictures in your Home, there is a game launching option on the PSP, and more.

When we find out more on this update, we will keep you informed.

[Via PS3Forums]

Update: An onAXIS reader has tipsed us with all the newest features of PLAYSTATION Home. For one, you can now customize your characters Bone Structure & Body Shape.

The tile in your apartment now shows reflections as well, adding to the realism. Two extra windows where added in the apartment as well, showing a cruise boat outside. The apartment window doors now have dots on them, and you can go on your balcony and enjoy the view of the Home City shown below. You now have the ability to add in your own pictures from your hard-drive in picture frames.

On your PSP, there is now an option named "Create Game" where when you click it, you can launch the game you have in your system, or a demo you have o n your system. There is now a region selection under Locations on the PSP XMB.

In the Home Square, there is a new building, covered with pink, making it look like it's under renovation. He sent us in a picture along with the information.

This building looks like it is some sort of convention building. Perhaps a virtual home for the next batch of events such as E3 and the Tokyo Game Show 2008?

The movie theater now has all it's showings on the first floor, with the second floor containing nothing but posters.

That's about it.

Time Crisis 4: Setup Screenshots

We just received Time Crisis 4 in the mail the other day and are having a blast with it. I don't understand why it received so many bad reviews, it's just like the arcade, which already had my quarters flying out of my pockets.

With Time Crisis 4 for the PLAYSTATION 3 comes a set-up as well. You need to place motion sensors on your TV screen as well in order to tell where the gun is. Take a look for yourself at the link below.

Be sure to read our Time Crisis 4 review upon the opening of the new site, which should be happening anyday now.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Patch Not So Successful

Today, the Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 patch was released for the PLAYSTATION 3 version of the game.

However, despite the excitement and anticipation surrounding the updates it appears they are only mildly successful. Console owners are reporting that while the patches do improve matters online somewhat, there is still warping, teleporting and lag, despite the updates.

Hopefully, Konami will patch the patch.

PLAYSTATION 3 Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Patch Released

Konami has finally released the much anticipated patch for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

Players of the title have reported that upon starting the game this afternoon, a patch is automatically downloaded, which will hopefully solve the online lag problems and maybe even the framerate issues in the single player game.

There is yet no word on what this patch fixes, but hopefully it's the problems stated above.

Unreal Tournament III Shipping December 10, 2007

Although we already knew the shipping date of Unreal Tournament III, thanks to my main man Mark Rein, it's always good to hear the official announcement.

Midway and Epic Games today announced that Unreal Tournament III will be shipping on December 10, 2007 and available at retailers December 11, 2007. Though the game does not have an official street date, meaning if stores receive it earlier, then they can sell it right away. The Midway Games press release below.

"Midway Games Inc. and Epic Games today announced that the PlayStation® 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3 is scheduled to ship to retail outlets in North America on December 10th. It is expected to begin arriving in stores in limited quantities the following day, with a U.S. suggested retail price of $59.95."

Bioshock Developers Again Shunning the PLAYSTATION 3?

Bioshock developer 2K Boston is yet again shunning the PLAYSTATION 3 for its next title, if an internet job listing is anything to go by.

The ad, which can be found on games recruitment site Gamasutra, calls out for a handful of art-centric jobs including lead artist, level builder and animator positions.

Crucially for internet conspiracy theorists though, 2K Boston only lists Xbox 360 and Windows as platforms for the title in question. So unless it's keeping quiet, PLAYSTATION 3 owners are yet again going to miss out.

PixelJunk Monsters: New Screens & Information

On December 6, 2007, Q Games (creators of PixelJunk Racers) is bringing their newest PLAYSTATION Network downloadable to the Japanese PLAYSTATION Store, PixelJunk Monsters. The price of the game is 900 Yen with the North American release to follow.

The game is a puzzle game. You must protect the puzzle simulation using the monsters. You can build towers and such as well, which ranks with the attack inside the monsters. It's hard to understand from our rough translation.

The game will feature online leaderboards as well as multiplayer, not sure if it's online multiplayer or just two-players. The game will also have something to do with the PLAYSTATION Portable as well.
