Mouse and keyboard support is also confirmed, although Epic wouldn’t say anything when we quized them about crossplatform play.

Source: BioShock Coming to PlayStation 3

When GamePro asked an inside source if BioShock would be coming to PS3, their contact informed us that we'd be wrong to think the game wouldn't be released on Sony's console at a later date.

The statement validates news from Tuesday, where eagle-eyed BioShock demo owners discovered a bit of code (read here) listing both Xbox 360 and PS3 as consoles under a file setting.

Another thing to note is that BioShock uses the Unreal Engine, which supports the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles along with the PC.

Unfortunately, 2K games was not immediately available to comment on the situation.

SCEA: No PSP/PS3 Announcements for US

This is straight from GameIndustry.biz:

Following Sony's recent Leipzig GC announcements, SCEA has indicated that they are still evaluating the services for the North American market.

In Leipzig, SCEE announced a voice chat, video chat, and instant messaging service named Go! Messenger. While it will continue to expand the capabilities of the PSP via firmware upgrades, SCEA has not made any announcements for this type of service in the US.

The PSP satellite navigation peripheral, named Go! Explore, is currently available in Japan and select countries in Europe. Before considering the product for a North American launch, an SCEA spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz "[We] want to ensure there is the appropriate level of software that would be applicable and bring value to the consumers in North America."

While it had no announcements regarding GPS capabilities for the PSP in the US, SCEA's spokesperson said that the company "will continue to explore appropriate and compelling software that would allow us to bring this feature to PSP in our market."

SCEE also unveiled PlayTV, a TV tuner and PVR accessory. At this time, SCEA has no announcements for similar PS3 DVR capabilities in North America either.

Finally, SCEE announced a partnership with British Sky Broadcasting to bring video downloads to the PSP in the UK and Ireland. SCEA is "evaluating similar types of partnerships in North America" but has no announcement at this time.

"We understand and respect the consumer interest in this type of service, and we will continue to explore downloadable content options for our territory," SCEA's Dave Karraker told GamesIndustry.biz.

GC 2007: FIFA 08 Goes 5-on-5

EA Revealed that FIFA 08 will feature a 5-on-5 online mode for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

They call the feature, Be A Pro: Online Team. It lets you and four of your friends take control of one guy from the team. The camera will follow you as you take it to the goal, and as you compete with teams from all over the world.

The feature will not be in game when it gets released here on September 28, 2007, but is expected to be a free downloadable update around six to eight weeks later.

"At EA Sports our dream is to create a full 11 versus 11 online gameplay experience in which each user will have a set position during the match and train specifically for that position," said Joe Booth, producer of FIFA 08
"Be A Pro is the first step in this direction, and now, with the ability to deliver five versus five online gameplay as free downloadable content, we are moving even closer towards the realisation of this dream."
To top all of that off, there will be interactive leagues, which take all of the points won by supporters of a certain club and compile it in one giant league. This is going to be the biggest FIFA to date.

GC 2007: Buzz! Quiz TV Announced

Sony has announced their next PlayStation Network user. And it's called Buzz! Quiz TV. It will be integrated with the PlayStation Network to enhance the use of the community. Heres how EuroGamer describes it:

So, you'll be able to play people from all over the world rather than your slightly-too-clever flatmate, on your own, or in teams - just like on Family Fortunes.

The Network will also open up limitless content for you to download and expand your game with. We're told the closest comparison is to imagine the previous PS2 suite of games all rolled in to one gigantic offering, and you'll be able to break it up into themed-chunks or any way you like.

And when you get the point you feel you are the best and most knowledgeable person around, then you can write, upload, and share your own content. Yours and everyone else's questions will be available on community site MyBuzz, which will link directly to the game and by playable in the Buzz Studio area. You can do it all on your PC, too, before transferring it through your console.

What it all means is that the questions will never dry up, essentially meaning developer Relentless will never have to make another Buzz game to house new questions. Lazy! Oops, they'll get me. Better talk about next-generation graphics, lovely audio, new games, modes, better jokes from Buzz, high-definition Rose. And a new style wireless buzzer? No news just yet.

Seems like it's going to be a nice game for the PlayStation Network.

GC 2007: Welcome to PlayTV

At their conference today at Leipzig Games Convention 2007, Sony unveiled their next PlayStation 3 - PlayStation Portable product. That product is PlayTV.

It will let you watch and record your favorite shows on your console completely independently of each other - so you can view something while saving something else. Here is EuroGamer with the description:

You'll be able to choose programmes to keep on your hard drive by selecting them from a fancy seven-day guide, and even control it all remotely using your PSP - in case you forgot to tell it to record something before you left for work. Or you could just stream it to your PSP and watch it elsewhere.

It will use the Digital Video Broadcasting standard, and be able to intelligently display the picture in high or standard definition depending on the capabilities of your TV.

It's supposed to be so easy, that old lady who's house you walked by while she was taking off her bra could use, as for me, I can't wait to see how this works. They got a nice design on it, now alls we need is a nice design on the PlayStation Store.
