IGN Reviews Uncharted a 9.1/10

It's been a rough year for the PLAYSTATION 3, with exclusives like LAIR, Heavenly Sword, and Folklore getting mixed reviews throughout the web, everyone turned to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for the future. And according to IGN, Uncharted comes well done, their breakdown:

Presentation - 9.5
The whole thing has the polish of a major motion picture and goes out of its way to immerse you in the experience with amazing cutscenes, music and more.

Graphics - 9.0
There's no doubt the game looks great and that the use of in-game assets for the movies is seamless transition, but there's still a fair amount of screen tearing and texture pop in.

Sound - 9.5
From the low instrumental piece accompanying the opening screen to the sweeping score that runs throughout the whole game, this is what videogame music should be.

Gameplay - 9.0
This game is flat-out fun to play. Leaping from ledges is awesome, shootouts are fun, and the occasional vehicle section is a nice change of pace. Still, the pirate battles can be a bit much.

Lasting Appeal - 8.5
The game is short, but the medals, rewards and bonuses should be enough to bring you back at least once.

OVERALL - 9.1/10
(out of 10 / not an average)

Want to know what Kane & Lynch: Dead Men is all about? Well open the case files from Io Interactive and find out just what this newly released game is packing? Lets play cops and robbers.

Imabikisou Playable Through Remote Play

Remember back when the world was shocked to find out that you can play Factor 5's LAIR on the PSP via remote play? The shock died down, now, here is the second full PLAYSTATION 3 title that is remote play ready, this one being Imabikisou.

I doubt it's any excitement to us though, as it's a Japanese title, and you'll probably have no idea what is going on when you play it. Try the demo, you'll get my point.

Assassin's Creed: PLAYSTATION 3 vs. Xbox 360

GamerSyde has provided us with a very short but noticeable comparison of the PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360 version of Ubisoft Montreal's newly released game, Assassin's Creed. If you'll notice, the PLAYSTATION 3 version is much lighter than the Xbox 360 version.

EGM December 2007: Uncharted Scores, Kane & Lynch, & More

The December 2007 Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine reviews a load of games, including Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, lets take a look:

PLAYTATION 3/Xbox 360
- Blacksite Area 51: 6, 5, 6
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare: 9.5, 8.5, 9.5
- Kane and Lynch: Dead Men: 7.5, 7, 7
- Need For Speed ProStreet: 8.5, 7.5, 7

PLAYSTATION 2
- Manhunt 2: 4, 5, 7

PLAYSTATION Portable
- Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops+: 7.5, 7, 7.5

Xbox 360
- Mass Effect: 9, 9.5, 9
- Naruto: Rise of a Ninja: 6.5, 8, 5.5

Nintendo Wii

- Mario and Sonic at the Olympics: 6,7,6
- Geometry Wars Galaxies: 8.5,7, 8.5

Ninendo DS
- Contra 4: 7.5, 8, 8
- Cooking Mama 2: 3 7.5s
- Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings: 8, 7.5, 6
Well, three straight 8.5's shows that the game reviewers aren't so mixed about their game opinions as they were with Heavenly Sword or LAIR. It's odd how this happens with PLAYSTATION 3 exclusives.

2K Moderator: "There will be no PS3 version of BioShock"

Over at the official 2K Games forums, a user signed up to ask about a PLAYSTATION 3 version of Bioshock and if it is ever coming. A moderator replied to the topic:

"There will be no PS3 version of BioShock. It has been explained time, and time again."
Of course, the moderator may not work for 2K Boston's development, so who knows, it can still come.

Resident Evil 5 Demo Coming January 2, 2008?

Hidden in an article on HighDefDigest about recently released movie, Resident Evil: Extinction, is some info about a possible Resident Evil 5 Demo for the online stores.

"Additional supplements shared with the standard-def DVD version of the film (which is debuting day-and-date with the Blu-ray) include an audio commentary with director Paul W.S. Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt, four making-of featurettes, eleven deleted scenes, and two video game demos (for "Devil May Cry 4" and "Resident Evil 5")."
It is possible that they could mean trailers, but the article does say demos, so you never know, right?

LEGO Batman: New Details Revealed

In the upcoming LEGO Batman: The Videogame title from Traveller's Tales, gamers will be able to take control of a LEGO-ized Batman or Robin and explore Gotham City capturing several of the criminals found in the series, including The Joker and The Penguin.

Players can also build vehicles with LEGO blocks, as in the LEGO Star Wars series.

Pail Levitz, president of the Batman rights-holder, DC Comics, was happy that the LEGO franchise would be expanding, as he stated:

"There's nothing more appealing to our youngest fans than the chance to be The Batman and the Lego Batman video game will provide a unique opportunity for them to immerse themselves in Gotham and Batman's adventures."
Who knows what kind of LEGO game we will see next, possibly LEGO Mega Man?

IGN Gives PS3 Assassin's Creed 7.5/10, Xbox 360's 7.7/10

If you've been visiting onAXIS for a while now or been reading game reviews, this will come as no surprise to you. Once again, the PLAYSTATION 3 version of a multiplatform game (which was supposed to be exclusive in the first place) is the lower version. And once again, its due to framerate issues.

IGN UK has done it's reviews for Assassin's Creed on both systems, with the Xbox 360 version scoring 7.7/10 and the PLAYSTATION 3 version scoring a 7.5/10. The difference?

PLAYSTATION 3
Graphics 8.0: The word is beautiful except for the pop-in and troublesome framerate issues. The animations are top-notch, but tough to enjoy with slowdown.

Xbox 360
Graphics 8.5: The world is beautiful except for the pop-in and framerate issues. The animations are top-notch.

DivX Coming to the PLAYSTATION 3

It's been rumored to come to the console, but today, it's confirmed. In a recent press release from DivX, Inc., it states that they are adding the DivX technology to the PLAYSTATION 3. That means you will be able to play files such as "movie.divx" or "movie.avi". Kevin Hell, CEO of DivX, Inc. spoke:

"We are excited to work with Sony Computer Entertainment to bring DivX to PS3. Our technology will expand the multimedia functionality of PS3 by enabling users to enjoy access to the broad library of content in the DivX digital media format."
This is a great feature for the entertainment system that has been long wanted since launch. That means no more converting to the pesky "movie.mp4" format.
