PlayStation Store Updates from the PlayStation.Blog

An official PlayStation.Blog post from Susan Panico, Sr. Director of the PlayStation Network, revealed some more on the upcoming PlayStation Store revamp, as well as confirming it for the US rather than just EU.

The new revamp will let users browse through eight main categories, with twice as many items on every page. This will cut down the time it takes for you to find what you want.

Unfortunately, the US Store will not be updated as well as the EU Store for the next two weeks, meaning April 3rd and April 10th are no shows. When the new store opens, content will come at its regularly scheduled time along with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue coming the day of the store's re-opening.

He closes saying the store will come with a firmware upgrade to enable use of the store. More information, such as a video walkthrough, will be arriving in the coming days.

If you ask me, I expect at least 2 demos to make up for these two weeks of no content. That and In-Game XMB with that new firmware update.

I agree 2 demos sound about right for the 2 weeks of no content but the in game xmb and is not coming till home arrives which is in July.

Actually not getting anything for two weeks is equal to what we've been getting the past few weeks. We really haven't received anything of any real significance for some time but then again all the big games are still months away. And then you have developers that are just not making demos for games like most expected.

Guess it makes sense that you spend so many hours on a demo and not see sales increase that significantly with a demo.

Regarding the 'new look' Store, I'm really excited about it and it looks great. The one thing I noticed, however, is that while it does mimic the SingStar interface the background remains static. Of course I'm just nitpicking but it would be nice if the background had the same "ribbon of smoke" that the original XMB has but I guess there's no pleasing everyone.

Let's hope that movie and music download is closely behind. MS has had too much time with this service and it's high time Sony get in on the action, considering the content they can bring to the table.

@incredibilistic

That would depend on your preference on games, I wouldn't call Condemned 2 "nothing" or anything.

@incredibilistic, about the ribbon of smoke, doesn't really matter does it? i mean it would be cooler but does it really matter?

Actually, and this still strikes me as odd, you guys got a demo of Condemned 2 and sega all stars tennis (i know the tennis game isnt the greatest) but we never got either on the xbox360 and being as though condemned was one of the first games on the 360 it strikes me as odd.
