Official: Frontlines for PLAYSTATION 3 Cancelled

THQ seems to be going on a Sony cancellation spree. THQ has today announced that Frontlines: Fuel of War for PLAYSTATION 3 is cancelled, even after FiringSquad supposedly confirmed it was delayed. The other day, THQ also cancelled Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed for the PS2.

Frontlines: Fuel of War Delayed for PLAYSTATION 3

For those worried about the rumors of Frontlines: Fuel of War being canceled for PLAYSTATION 3, then worry no more. But, there is still a bad side of this good news.

It seems that the PLAYSTATION 3 version is delayed however. FiringSquad checked with THQ, who told them of this delay. The Xbox 360 and PC versions are to come out in February 2008, with the PLAYSTATION 3 version following at a later date.

Rumor: Frontlines: Fuel of War Cancelled for PLAYSTATION 3?

A number of people at the Xbox Forums (warning, fanboy attack) and Kaos Studio forums are saying that their local EB/GameStop has removed Frontlines: Fuel of War as a title for the PLAYSTATION 3.

Apparently, they received an e-mail stating the PLAYSTATION 3 version was canceled. More supporting evidence is now when you search for Frontlines on the GameStop website, they only list the PC and Xbox 360 version.

Let's hope this rumor in some way is some major mishap. I was really looking forward to the title. When we hear official word, we will let you know.

Frontlines Developer Talks the PLAYSTATION 3 Delay

Gamespot's recent Q&A with the Frontlines: Fuel of War's senior producer, Joe Halper, reveals that "the Unreal Engine has some challenges with the PLAYSTATION 3--you'll see with other developers--it's kind of a little late in the game with Epic, which is unfortunate." His comments were made before the announcement of the PLAYSTATION 3 delay, but he later illustrates that every platform has its challenges.

He tells Gamespot that development on the Xbox 360 was harder due to the 32-person multiplayer goal and that the PLAYSTATION 3's smaller available memory makes it challenging to develop for. Plus, SIXAXIS controls are still being balanced, adding an extra layer of development difficulty.

Don't take this as news, we should be use to it by now.
