Howard Stringer: US PLAYSTATION 3 Sales Boost a "Breakthrough"

CEO and Chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment, Howard Stringer, shared a little bit of details on the sales of the PLAYSTATION 3.

The console has experienced a massive sales boost in the United States after the release of the new 40GB model price cuts of the 60 & 80GB units. The console was only selling around 30-40,000 per week before the new model was launched.

Now, Stringer announced they sold 75,000 PS3s in the 40GBs first week, and 100,000 the week after. Stringer speaks:

"It's the breakthrough we've been anticipating. We've been holding our breath...Obviously, we've taken so much heat over the year on PLAYSTATION 3. Finally, the turning point has been passed."
Yes, a breakthrough indeed. Now if they can only wise up and start tuning up the PLAYSTATION Network.
