Sony Still Hard At Work on Getaway for PlayStation 3

Since we first saw the trailer for The Getaway 3, we've only seen it once more a year after. It was first shown at E3 2005, then E3 2006. The crowd was amazed upon seeing London's extreme detail in the game. After that however, the game went into silence, with nothing to be heard.

DenofGeek recently interviewd one of the writers of The Getaway and its sequel, Katie Ellwood. She reassured us that the game is still in the works and that Sony is hard at work on the open-world franchise. She, however, did not mention if the game is set for a 2008 release.

This is getting a little old. I can see why MS went with the strategy of showing what was coming out in the next few months following last year's E3. Because there's really no sense in showing a game that's more than a year away from release.

I work with sales reps and I hear their managers say the same thing all the time: don't sell futures. It's just not good business.

Having said that, everyone wants to know what's coming and that's fine. You have mo-cap sessions of Resistance 2 and that's fine. I'm frustrated with games like LBP and the PS Home service that have been shown time and time again and look practically finished only to be told that it's still a year or more away.

Killzone 2 is no different. They've shown absolutely nothing since TGS and we still have another half-year away before we can play it.

Let's hope we see near finished versions of LBP, Killzone 2 and The Getaway at this year's E3.
