Downtime During PlayStation Store Upgrade

Sony Computer entertainment has confirmed through their customer help center that there will be some downtime on the PlayStation Network when the new store launches. The PlayStation Store will be inaccessible from April 14, 2008 at 8:00 Pacific Standard Time and will be available again at 11:00 PM. The entire network will be unavailable from that time, meaning no online games and such. Once it's back up, the new firmware will be available for download. We can't wait.

Small price to pay for a better shopping experience and better features for the PS3.

That could very well mean that the update will be available by midnight!

I'm in Phoenix so there's a good chance I can start downloading after 9pm (we're 3 hours behind EST).

It says the network will be down first but then it singles out the store and says other PSN services will be unaffected so I wouldn't be so sure that online play will be unavailable.

A very small price to play for a big big reward.

Only the Store will be down, all other services will be unaffected.

Yeah from reading around it seems like just the store wont be accessible, but other features like online gaming will be fine.
