SCEE Boss: "You probably will see" PS3 Grand Theft Auto IV DLC

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss David Reeves said yesterday at London's PlayStation Day 2008 that PlayStation 3 owners "probably will see" Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content.

As you know, the Xbox 360 will be receiving two exclusive episode packs as downloadable content promising "hours of additional play".

When asked if it was damagint to Sony that and the PlayStation 3 that no Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content is coming, Reevse responded: "Well I think you probably will see it, it's just that a deal obviously was struck between Microsoft and Take 2 to do that, and if that's what they want to do, I think that's the last shot they have."

When Reeves was asked if he had a message for PlayStation 3 fans who wanted downloadable content, he replied: "I would say to them then, you know, email Rockstar (laughs), and ask them what's coming. I think they already are, probably!"

Wait, so David Reeves, is something on it's way? "I'm honestly not going to make any comment on that because it's too big a thing to... we can make an announcement when we make an announcement." I hope I heard that right. It sounds like we will be getting some downloadable content.

xbots already got pwned by 16 months of sales lead in Europe caught up, 4x as many PS3's sold in Japan despite coming out (just under a year?) later and neck-to-neck sales in North America, Microsoft's strongest region, before the PS3's big guns have even released.

I just saw a commercial for GTAIV that had some basic text splashed across the screen that said that the 360 version would have exclusive DLC.

You'd like to think that after paying $50 million for the exclusive DLC they would put a few more million behind making sure people are aware of this.

But as I said, I "just" saw this commercial which means this news came AFTER the games' release. Why MS didn't have their own commercial showcasing the exclusive DLC means they missed out big time on getting people that were waiting for GTAIV to buy a PS3 and instead convert them to the 360 with enticing exclusive DLC.

I'm not suggesting that it's over for the 360. Not by a long shot but Sony has the better line-up for this year and into next year (now that Killzone 2's been delayed).

We're definitely closing the gap and it's getting tougher for MS to recover. All Sony needs to do now is make sure the development community is starting with the PS3 first when making games.

There was a rumor in the OPM that said GTA IV would work with Home when Home comes out. So may be the DLC is some thing with Home?

Plus I think the DLC will come from the 360 version to the PS3 some day but it will be after some time the 360 had it only to themselfs for some time
