Housemarque have just completed their upcoming Super Stardust HD expansion pack. The "Solo Pack" will lead into the "Team Pack", including "a split screen Versus Match and Co-Op, ship editor, a true 5.1 orchestral soundtrack, and trophies."
They even say that they are looking into more. "We have been experimenting with a game mode we call "Twin gun" mode (not disclosing specifics at the moment, maybe you can guess?) and how to make music generated levels, etc." Makes me think a bit of Everyday Shooter. You never know.

Super Stardust HD Getting Add-On with Store Revamp?
Sev1512 seems to have gotten some insider tips from Sony Computer Entertainment. It seems that along with some of the great things such as Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Warhawk's Operation Broken Mirror, and more, the PlayStation Store will be receiving a new Super Stardust HD add-on. No word on what will be in this add-on. We will label this as a rumor for now, we will confirm or debunk on Tuesday.

GDC 2008: Sony Unveils the PhyreEngine
During the PLAYSTATION Network session yesterday, Sony Computer Entertainment unveiled the "free to use graphics engine" known as the PhyreEngine. The engine will allow developers to more easily develop games for the PLAYSTATION 3 by using PC environments they are more familiar with. Sony promises "ongoing development and support" for their new engine.
The engine has already been used, even in some multiplatform titles. They revealed three titles that uses the engine: flOw, Gripshift, and DiRT. That means they've actually helped the development of Xbox 360 and PC games as well.
Sony is putting up a good case here. Use their PhyreEngine to make games on the PLAYSTATION 3 first, guranteeing high quality games that will match their Xbox 360 counterparts, or even exceed them. Start games on the PLAYSTATION 3 and they will be better for both PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360 owners, thats the message.
When we get more on this new PhyreEngine, we will be sure to update you.

Super Stardust HD Update Now Available
Members of PS3Forums are reporting that if you own Super Stardust HD, and delete it and re-download it, you get the new revamped version. According to the post, the new version includes the following.
- Custom soundtrack. And gameplay tweaks such as the below.
- In-game store featuring single player and multiplayer expansions coming soon.
- New controls guide when beginning a new game. It shows everything you can do, previously you had to check the in-game menus or just discover the controls yourself.Currently, it's only confirmed for the European store, so if you have the game, give it a [re] download.
- The grid around the planet spreads in front of your eyes instead of being there already.
- The grid disappears between each phase to reveal the planet.
- The player ship has a yellow trace, I think it was reddish before.
- I believe some sound effects are slightly different now, but I'm not too sure.
- All enemies that fired purple balls fire now purple balls with a short trail.
- Tthe game itself require half as much room as before. It used to require 299 MB and now it's 148 MB.
