Fallout 3 Composer Announced: Inon Zur

Yesterday, Bethesda Softworks announced the composer for their upcoming (potential game of the year) Fallout 3. Inon Zur will be composing this soundtracks, known for his works with Crysis and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.

“We’ve wanted to work with Inon for a long time,” said Todd Howard executive producer of Fallout 3. “He brings so much to the table, in terms of his talent, background, and the music that’s influenced him. He’s created a score that has epic sweep; from the lonely ambience of the wasteland to dramatic fights for survival.”

Inon had his own to say as well.

“Fallout 3 is one of the most engaging and demanding projects I've scored,” said Inon Zur. “It was very rewarding to put all my creative energy into supporting Bethesda's vision for the game. I’m very proud of the outcome, and look forward to sharing the music with the players."

We are looking forward to nothing but good from the game and it's soundtrack.

  • While travelling across the Wasteland, you can come across a few caravans, each heading to precise locations.
  • There are three difficulty levels, as well as an "autolevelling difficulty" mode.
  • A few new weapons : Cryolator allows you to freeze ennemies while you can hypnotize them with your Mesmetron. [these weapons were also mentioned in the NMA preview, though their functions unknown]
  • Also a new perk, Daddy's Little Girl, which gives a Science bonus to female characters.

Fallout 3: Three New Screenshots

Bethesda Softworks has released three new screenshots of their upcoming post-apocalyptic RPG, Fallout 3. The new screenshots have been seen before, but they were just today released to gaming site such as ours. Enjoy!

Bethesda: No Demo for Fallout 3

Bethesda Softwork's Pete Hines has confirmed that there will be no demo for their upcoming RPG, Fallout 3. Hines said there was "no way" to preview a portion of the game's world in a demo.

"When you build it as one thing, there's no way to portion off a section and have it stand on its own without putting the whole game in the demo, which we're just not going to do," said Hines.

"And it doesn't really capture the fun of a game like an Elder Scrolls or a Fallout, where you can go where you want and do what you want. So no demo, sorry."

There you have it, no demo. It's cool though, all I really care about is the full game.

Fallout 3: PLAY PC Magazine Preview Breakdown

The latest issue of PLAY PC Magazine in the UK featured a preview of Bethesda's upcoming Fallout 3. Unfortunately, the images in this issue are the same as all the other images in magazines lately. Lets get to the breakdown.

  • Summary of the BoS article.
  • Super mutants kidnap local people and found a way to turn them into mutants.
  • You'll be able to issue commands to Dogmeat (your Dog), e.g. tell him to bring you some items like ammo.
  • They use "active pause" instead of "VATS".
  • The main statistic of weapons will be DPS or Damage Per Second, e.g. a shotgun has 20-40 DPS.
  • There will be addictions and diseases.
  • The world will have no invisible walls or other artificial barriers, instead of using the main entrance, you'll be able to climb over a wall or use another alternative way in.
  • The developers are considering making the player able to complete the game without killing anyone, using only dialogues, sneaking and hacking.
  • Conclusion: Despite the complaints of orthodox fans, they are convinced that Fallout 3 is the future of RPG and will be great, but they're worried that while having awesome gameplay and atmosphere, the game will lack black humor.
Please Bethesda, release a gameplay video! You've got me drooling on my desk.

Fallout 3 to Feature Over 200 Endings

Bethesda's Todd Howard was recently featured on the official Xbox podcast. He talked about their upcoming Fallout 3, revealing somenew information, such as the number of endings available in the game. Lets take a look.

-”Fans sending death threats” says one of the OXM guys. Another one calls Fallout fans”rabid Right Wing kind of fans”.

-Over 200 endings, since last week. The 12 endings was surpassed sometime ago.

-The game is twice bigger than what they thought in the beginning.

-Always just one humanoid-type companion, and another NPC like Dogmeat.

-Dogmeat can die, but they are working on his health and how you maintain him.

- Dogmeat can be given assignments, and will try to follow them with his Radiant AI.

-Brotherhood of Steel doing their own thing; already in finished state on the game; they are on the verge of extinction, you’ll interact with them a lot more after a determined point in the game.

-The game is finished, but needs a lot more polishing and testing, they are doing many playthroughs; they keep adding stuff, sometimes it takes 100 hours to play, just the main quest takes about 20 hours.

-Absolutely tracking at fall 2008.

Wow, talk about one long year I'm going to have in 2009. Two hundred endings is mad, mad enough for me to get them all.

PlayStation Magazine: Fallout 3 Interview with Bethesda's Emil Pagiarulo

The latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine had an interview with Bethesda Softwork's Emil Pagiarulo, who is working with the team on the upcoming Fallout 3.

Emil was asked to describe Fallout, she goes to say that "Fallout as a franchise, is all about finding your way in an open-ended, post-apocalyptic world. There's good, there's evil, and there's everything in between. So for the player, it's all about doing what you want, how you want. There's always a greater good, a sense of nobility and selfless purpose that you can champion... if you want. If you wander through the rubble and be a complete ass, well, you can do that, too!"

There will be some funny gags and dialogs in the game. Fear not for a late PLAYSTATION 3 release as well, Emil says bringing Oblivion on the console gave them great experience with the system, and that releasing the game on the same day for every platform means they bring more people into the Bethesda world.

Shivering Isles Now Available, Download Coming November 29, 2007

For those Oblivion players who have been waiting to expand their gaming experience, Bethesda Softworks' The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles expansion pack was released today.

Or, if you prefer a download, Shivering Isles will be available for download at the end of this month, on November 29, 2007 during a regular Thursday update.

So, next Thursday, expect it. It would probably be out sooner if they didn't do Thursday updates only though.

Fallout 3 Features 12 Different Endings

In a recent interview with Pete Hines, VP of Public Relations and Marketing for Bethesda Softworks, he told CVG:

"There will be somewhere between 9 to 12 different endings to Fallout 3 based on what you’ve done in the game,”
Unlike Bethesda’s last huge game of the year RPG, Oblivion, your decisions in Fallout 3’s post-apocalyptic wasteland will close off some options while opening others.
“So it’s something that is inherently a diverging path. It may be some of the same things but doing them in very different ways, and ultimately that will define your gameplay experience,” continued Hines.
It's all about choice I guess, seems to be a great thing they are doing.

Bethesda Silent on Oblivion PSP Cancellation

A few days back, GameStop started calling homes informing them that The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion for the PSP has been canceled.

Kotaku wanted to see what was going on with the title and contacted Bethesda Softworks' vice president Pete Hines. What they got? Nothing but silence, as he stated "We haven't changed our stance that we are not talking about this title right now,".

Well, that seems to answer it, or not.

Bethesda Talks Elder Scrolls MMO

Ever since ElderScrollsOnline.com was registered by Bethesda Software, much speculation arose about an Elder Scrolls MMORPG.

SPOnG caught up briefly with Bethesda’s Pete Hines late last week who told us the following about the recent $300 million cash injection into Bethesda’s new MMO group:

“This investment allows Bethesda to continue to grow and pursue our previously announced initiatives. That includes work now going on with our new MMO group (ZeniMax Online Studios), as well as the titles that we are working on.”
He added:
“I don't think that this funding changes our focus in terms of what we are about and are trying to accomplish. The additional resources will allow us to expand our publishing efforts-both our own titles and those of other studios-and to pursue development of more titles, working with internal and external development teams.”
When we find out more about this mystery MMO, we will keep you informed.
