Kazunori Yamauchi, Polyphony Digital boss, revealed today, stated today that a major update is coming this year for their upcoming US release of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. The lucky fellas in Europe already have it. The new update is promised to bring car damage along with extra community features.

Gran Turismo's Kazunori Yamauchi Interview: Weather, Damage

Under limited conditions, we are just now finally at a stage where it [GT5] looks almost photorealistic. But things of nature - sunshine, rays of sun coming through the clouds, rain falling, wet textures on the street, things like that - are so indescribably beautiful sometimes. We are not at that level yet. Obviously we are trying our best in terms of replicating weather conditions and landscape, but there is also the human element. We've brought that pretty far, but there is a lot of room for improvement. There are still many, many areas where we can make improvements [visually].

SIXAXIS: Gran Turismo 5 President Confirms Rumble
In an interview with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Polyphony Digital president (division of Sony) Kazunori Yamauchi, “Kaz” for the first time confirms rumble for a PS3 game.Yamauchi also confirmed, via his translator Tsubasa Inaba, that a new force feedback wheel is being developed specifically for the release of the game.
