Kaz Talks Monster Hunter 3, PS3 Backwards Compatibility

In a new interview with Sony Computer Entertainment's Kaz Hirai, he talks about losing Monster Hunter 3 and about PLAYSTATION 3 backwards compatibility.

He explains that the 40GB PLAYSTATION 3 model was not shown at TGS 2007 because it was more important to showcase their software lineup.

He explains that removing the PLAYSTATION 3's backwards compatibility for newer models wasn't hard because it was only one of many features for the PLAYSTATION 3. Playing actual games, downloading them, and such are more important in his mind. Removing the backwards compatibility made them able to lower the price.

On Monster Hunter 3, Hirai states that it's up to the game companies basically and he has no control over it.

On the PLAYSTATION Home delay, he stated it was "a possitive effect". He was not satisfied with what HOME is right now and they wanted to make sure it was to their hearts content.

Capcom Says Sorry for Monster Hunter 3 Switch

The newest issue of Japanese magazine, Famitsu, features a new interview with the developer team of Monster Hunter 3, which has been cancelled for the PLAYSTATION 3 and is now a Wii exclusive.

According to Famitsu (translated by IGN), representatives of Capcom had a "big apology" for PLAYSTATION 3 owners. "Famitsu pointed out that some people may have purchased a PLAYSTATION 3 once Monster Hunter 3 was announced last year. This drew a big apology from the Capcom reps, who said that PLAYSTATION 3 owners should wait for further announcements in the series."

I personally bought the PLAYSTATION 3 because of next year's line-up, but if this is an apology, then I better go tell my cousin he shouldn't of bought girls clothes for his kid before further analysis was complete.

Capcom Has Something Big In Store for PLAYSTATION 3 Owners?

An angry PLAYSTATION 3 user over at the official Capcom forums posted in rage:

"Capcom is losing fans. They obviously don't care for their PS3-owner fans."
Sven, the Senior Director of Strategy for Capcom replied with a hinting response:
"Let's see how they feel at the end of next week about us."
Is there something big in store coming for the PLAYSTATION 3 to be announced next week, something to make up for the loss of Monster Hunter 3?

Monster Hunter 3 Not Coming to PLAYSTATION 3?

Today, the PLAYSTATION 3 has sadly lost a very good exclusive.

Monster Hunter 3 was originally planned as a PLAYSTATION 3 exclusive title. Today, Capcom announced that the title will be released as a Nintendo Wii only title.

They explain to Games Industry. Capcom’s managing corporate officer Katsuhiko Ichii told Thompson Financial that:

“Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title.”
I'm very disappointed to see this as Monster Hunter is a great franchise and would of done very well on the PLAYSTATION 3.
